I'm currently working on the pre-2375 version of the Excelsior-class vessel. When I first downloaded Spacedock, I began working on my own guess-timate on the make of of my favorite starship class.
When I was comparing the LUG version to mine, I noticed that my calculations weren't that much off. If it's inappropriate for me to ask, Steve, I apologize, but how did you arrive at your numbers?
Figuring that the Excelsior class is essentially a smaller version of the Galaxy class structure-wise (Saucer, Stardrive, 2 Nacelles dorsal), I took the SUs for the Galaxy-class and derived a proportion based on their size (7/8). That gave me 2158 SUs to the 3130 SUs.
From there, I went down the list multiplying the SUs for each component of the Galaxy class by 2158/3130 rounding up. Was that pretty much how you did it?
Not really -- I'm not that scientific. I used whatever canon or quasi-canon data I had, then filled in the gaps based on my own intuition and comparison to other ships.
