This is not meant as mockery, Sir SIG, I swear, but it's too funny to pass up.Originally posted by SIR SIG:
I'd have to say TOS as long as you slipped in some of those old ships that no one has heard of only by name to flesh out the Star Fleet of the 23rd Century.
Those old ships... that no one has heard of... only by name....
I don't think I will be able to get to sleep for contemplating the ontological and perceptual possibilities inherent in this statement. It's like a mine of time-travel episode ideas.
For this, clearly, Sir SIG must be awarded a Pink Elephant!

Democracy in action. Gotta love it.Originally posted by JT:
Since hardly anyone’s voting for the DWC a vote there wouldn’t really have any effect in the grand scheme of things. So if I vote for the one I really want then I throw my vote away. But If I vote for the TOS SRM my vote might make a difference.
Wow! Just like a real election!
No. I've never seen any of those cartoons. (No, wait, I take that back. Once, as a child, I saw one in which Kirk and Spock grow gills. But that's literally all I remember.) Somewhere Christian has a laser disk we got at Paramount with all the TAS cartoons on it, but even if I could get it from him, I don't have a laser disk player.Question: Steve, will you be covering any of the ships from TAS (The Animated Series)? There are some pretty cool ships (along with a bunch of lame ones) and the series was produced by Roddenberry so it sorta cannon.
Paramount, and I think Roddenberry as well, has definitely disavowed TAS as being "canon" at all, except for some elements of "Yesteryear" (or whatever the title is, the one about Spock's childhood that D. C. Fontana wrote).

Before I cast my vote, I'd like to know what's in the DWC that got left out of the DWS.

LUGTrek isn't really dead. Not as long as we remember it.
Gotta vote Kingon -- they have more presence in my games than anyone else.
And there aren't enough LUG Canon Klingon Ships, IMHO.
The Romulan box covered the Romulans fairly well, IMHO -- yes, they need a bit of work to update the template, but ...

My vote is for the Klingon SRM followed by the DWC.
And a pox on the recounts (unless they are done by machine only, no hand recounts here).

A Pink Elephant!
I was hoping for a stampede
But you knew what I meant right?

SIR SIG a Aussie TREK Narrator
Yeah, I think so, Sir SIG. You meant ships we only know of by name, but which we've never seen on screen and otherwise know nothing about, right?
Could you give me a couple of examples? I think I know what you're talking about, but I want to be sure.

Well, as of 10:20 AM EST on the first day of the New Year, it's the Klingons and TOS neck-and-neck! The TOS book pulled ahead yesterday afternoon for the first time, and remains in the lead at present despite a recent Klingon surge. The vote stands at:
Klingons: 16
Romulans: 7
TOS: 19
Kellinan Reach: 5
DWC: 3
Other: 1 (Security Handbook)
More updates as they become available....

Steve,
In the TOS SRM, will you be including the Gorn & the Orions?
And are their plans for a Gorn & Orion SRMs?

Probably not (on both counts). I am more likely to save both for the SRM: Miscellaneous. I've already got some Orion *Syndicate* vessels written up for it, and have a list of the ships I was going to be writing up for Sky Princes of Orion (LUG's Rigel book) that I can easily now do writeups on. And I've got an illo of one 24th century Gorn ship in ST:TM to use as the basis for the Gorn fleet.
But you never know; I may sneak one or two in, just as a teaser.

Perhaps today *is* a good day to vote Klingons!!!!
I'm still holding out for the Tri-dimensional Chess Sourcebook!
...but in all seriousness, cast my vote for the Klingons.

TOS. Definitely TOS. TOS without a question !
By the way, what will we see in SRM: Starfleet, part 2 ??
Keep up the good work, guys !

No matter where you go, there you are.
Well, more of the same, generally speaking. It will contain writeups of the ships I haven't already done in SRM1 or some other book, and will include any ships done in some other book (like the three in the DWS) for the sake of consistency.By the way, what will we see in SRM: Starfleet, part 2 ??
So, it'll have things like the Amsterdam, Andoria, Copernicus, Fermi, Frontier, Osaka, Shir'Kahr, and Vigilant classes.
If I can think of anything else worthwhile to put in it, I will. Maybe some species-specific ships, like the ones in Among The Clans, for example -- though that subject might merit a book of its own. Who knows what I might think of, or one of you will suggest to me?
