    DESCRIPTION AND NOTES
The Ger'cha-class Ambush Cruiser is one of the most unusual and frightening looking warships in the Klingon fleet. The main hull consists of a jagged spike terminating in a standard Vor'cha style command pod, complete with a Type 13 disruptor, in the bow and a wasp-like stinger in the stern. The four warp nacelles are mounted on 4 large forward swept pylons that project from the rear of the main hull in an X-shaped pattern like grasping arms or claws. Smaller 'arms' project away and forward from just to the rear of amidships from the top, bottom and either side of the hull, reaching forward just like the nacelles and their pylons, with the 8 points surrounding the command pod. The four smaller pylons each hold a high-yield torpedo launcher half way along the pylon plus a heavy disruptor cannon mounted at the tip and each nacelle pylon holds a pair of Type 10 disruptors firing away from the main hull. The aft arc is relatively lightly armed with only a single disruptor mounted in the stinger-like tail. The moderately sized shuttlebay is mounted just above the tail although when the large drawbridge-like door is closed the bay is totally hidden from view with no clue of it's presence. One fault of the bay door arrangements is that when it is open the aft disruptor is heavily obscured and is only able to fire in a somewhat restricted aft-ventral arc.
The tactical role of the Ger'cha-class, as it's name suggests, takes advantage of it's superb cloaking capability and powerful forward firepower. The ship either lays in wait, particularly along a shipping lane, or slowly creeps up upon an unsuspecting foe and once in range it quickly decloaks and opens fire, often using high-yield or plasma torpedoes to increase the effectiveness of the opening burst. The impulse engines are purposely understrength so as to help reduce their emissions signature further, although to compensate for their low power a total of four are carried to provide extra thrust when the warship no longer needs to hide. As a further aid to it's stealthy tactics the class has one of the best passive lateral sensor arrays fitted to any ship in the Klingon fleet, enabling it to track it's prey without being deteected in return.
Human Starfleet officers often find the Ger'cha particularly disturbing since it looks very much like a small bodied spider with huge, pointed legs and a spike driven through the centre. Many Klingons that crew Ger'cha-class vessels find this to be both amusing and contemptuous and it is common for Captains that feel this way to paint their ship a gloss black to accentuate the appearance. It has been noted that the design style is very un-Klingon and apart from the standard command pod almost appears to have been designed by another race, but so far the Klingon navy has declined to comment upon this observation

    DEVELOPER'S NOTES
It started off as a 4 nacelle Klingon cruiser and then I got the idea of merging it with the Shadow vessel from B5. That made me think more of cloaking and spiders, particularly those horrid, shiny black trapdoor spiders with the hard, pointed front legs that really give me the creeps. I mean, Tarantulas are OK, but things that spring out of dark holes at high speed and suck your arms off! No thank you! As for the name (if you're a Brit you'll find this easier to understand), just say it with a Cockney/Essex accent, particularly like Chas & Dave if you're unfortunate enough to have heard them sing. Then think of the class' preferred attack method.

I'll try, drawing isn't one of my strong points. In fact it isn't even one of my weak points, it's far, far worse than that!!

Seriously, the best I might be able to do would give a more detailed description of my mental picture of the design with a few rough piccies.
