    Talking ICON Rules for Transformers

Wouldn't this be a cool idea.

Make a system on the ICON fram for the good ol Autobots vs Decepticons Civil War.

Being a semi future sci/fi it already would share a number of things with the existing Trek system.

    What say you all?

    Smile

I say that I support and fully endorse this idea...

I think that there are way too many possibilities to let this slide. This is of course with the cool Transformers of 1984 and 85 over the rather more dodgy ideas presented in later years or is it open to all???

Such a system should include a random 'what you turn into' generator... Or should players be allowed to form armies of black sports cars with tinted windows supported but legions of military and services vehicles...

I don't mind Beast Wars and have yet to see much on Beast Machines.

Yet I would think anything pre-Movie would be appropriate from the cartoons and and all 80 issues of the US comic as background source.

    Cool

Before Beast Wars started, I created all kinds of Transformers stuff. First I created some new characters and new versions of old characters. I turned the Dinobots into Dragonbots, which could merge to form "Overdue". I turned Alpha Trion into Alphatron, who turned into a bright green lamborghini countash. Optimus Prime became Orion, and later Ultimus Prime, who was Targetmaster, Headmaster, and Pretender.

I introduced "cellular" transformers, based on the Asimov Robot City series. I said that the transformers were originally non- lifeforms built by a race that looked kinda like Talosians.

I'd love it if there were an official Transformers RPG, with source material about the Nebulans.

That sounds so cool I loved the Transformers.
    My favorite was Warpath.

I don't know if the ICON system is dynamic enough to truely capture the action and size of the Transformers universe. I mean this was not a skill intensive world, but more general in ability and high on action & adventure.

I use the old Marvel Super Heroes system for Transformers and I find it works great.

Still I would love to take a look at what you guys cook up

Then consider the gauntlet thrown down SirSig...I hereby challenge you to make a dynamic and action packed Transformers game using the ICON system

I’m not enough of a Transformer buff to provide any real help but here’s a word of advice.

Remember how every Transformer came with a bio-file card on the package?
This included (IIRC) a quote, a quick personality sketch and (most importantly) STATISTICS!!!
These included Strength, Speed, intelligence, and a few others too.

I can’t think of a better place to start then creating a conversion ratio for these states to ICON stats.

And the Transformer Universe books and the bios in the back of some later comics should be useful too, but I don't see how they can work with Icon.

Okay a quick trip to the cupboard gets me my TFs Tech-specs. (I still have all my stuff)

Okay there were 8 broad skills/abilities:

    Strength
    Intelligence
    Speed
    Endurance
    Rank
    Courage
    Firepower
    Skill

    And in ICON we have:

    Fitness: Strength, Vitality
    Cordination: Dexterity, Reaction
    Intellect: Logic, Perception
    Presence: Empathy, Willpower
    Psi:

    Okay so :

    Strength to Strength
    Intelligence to Logic
    Speed to Dexterity
    Endurance to Vitality
    Rank to Willpower
    Courage to Empathy
    Firepower to Reaction
    Skill to Perception

Perhaps a little silly but its a start.

As for Tech Specs, I still have my 100 odd.

Plus I know a few sites that post entire scans.

I agree with most, but not all comparrisons...

    Strength to Strength
    Intelligence to Logic
    Speed to Dexterity
    Endurance to Vitality
    Courage to Willpower
    Empathy*
    Reaction*
    Perception*

*Those 3 need adding to the stats

    Rank = Renown & Rank
Firepower = Weapons Systems and Martial Skills
    Skill = Skills

From the sound of it, we are developing the known transformers, but we should also include a character generation system for those of us who want to expand the known pantheon...

    Well starting to

Sure we'll have character creation soon enough.

Should we be trying to squeeze the setting into ICON or adapting ICON for the setting?

That will atleast give us some room with the core system.
