Caretaker, slight typo there on the episode title. I believe it should be "Infinite Regress" which I do have on tape and plan to check once I get home tomorrow night.
Thanks for the episode title.

CKV.

There was an assimilated Cardassian, too, but it doesn't mean they were taken from Wolf 359. There could have been other unreported encounters, just as there could have been other Alpha and Beta Quadrant vessels transported by The Caretaker.
One example comes from TNG's first season finale, "Neutral Zone". Several Federation and Romulan outposts were destroyed, ostensibly by the Borg. (They never said as much, but it was very strongly implied in "Q Who" that the Borg were responsible.) That same ship could easily have assimlated several Klingon and Cardassian ships while it was passing through the Alpha Quadrant.Originally posted by Caretaker:

I get the impression that there have been more encounters between the Borg and alpha/beta quadrant races than just those seen in episodes. This is primarily because of a number of assimilated species, such as klingons and Cardassians. And also because this is assumed in (Paramount approved but non-canon) material such as the RPG and CCG.

"Calm may work for Locutus of Borg here, but I'm freaked and intend to stay that way."
Yes, I know. Anyone ever read the Marvel Star Trek comic book Operation: Assimilate? I haven't, but as I udnerstand the story to go, a Romulan vessel (around the time of "The Neutral Zone") has put down an incursion on one world in the Star Empire, and it's not impressive to the CO of the vessel. But then they encounter a huge cube-shaped ship heading toward them, so they go to meet up with it...
Plus, we don't know all the events of the non-Federation starfaring races and empires. Who knows how many have encountered the Borg? Still doesn't explain "Dark Frontier" though (but I won't go there).
