I heard that Roddenbery was upset about pay charts for Star Fleet in FASA products as well.

Guy MacLimore (sp)? one of the founders of FASA disucssed this a few years ago on rec.games.frp.misc. You might be able to find the threads on groups.google.com

BTW I dont think I ever formally introducted myself when I started to post. I had signed up for the boards a while ago but never bothered to post. I've been role playing since '79. And have collection LUG and FASA material over the years. I'm from the Washington DC area.

    Mike,

    Welcome aboard!

    Yup. Correct about Rodenberry.

Also, Guy McLimore worked for Fantasimulations, who were hired by FASA to create the Star Trek RPG, after several other attempts failed to win over Paramount and Roddenberry.

Fantasimulations whote a game that tried to capture the feel of TOS rather than, say, AD&D with phasers, and got approval. This is relfected in the early FASA Trek products. Ironically, when FASA began to take control of the game's direction from Fantasimulations is when things started to heat up with Paramount. FASA waned to appeal to more gamers by making the game more combat orientated. In the process the upset Rodenbery.

One minor correction - the Romulans from FASA are actually quite different from The Romulan Way Romulans.[/B][/QUOTE]

Another minor correction: The Romulan Way was written by Diane Duane, not Diane Carey.
