Notes: Sometimes important cargoes or passengers have to reach their destination as fast as possible but Starfleet can not always afford to divert a major starship from it's current asignment for a courier mission. The Tultrak Class Courier was designed to fill just this gap. Due to it's small size a Tultrak doesn't need major repair and resupply facilities. This fact makes it a common sight on outlying Starbases and colonies who don't have the capability to support larger couriers but still need to convey sensitive passengers or cargoes occasionaly.
Rumors have it that Starfleet Intelligence uses several Tultraks outfitted with Holographic Masking Systems, but nobody outside SI can be sure of that. (Obviously some other systems would have to be downgraded to make room for a system like that.)
The Tultrak was named after an otter-like mammal native to Bolarus IX known for it's speed and agility. The Tultrak was once believed to be a messenger from the gods among certain Bolian religions.

Notes: When I started on this little project I thought about designing a Captains' Yacht kind of large shuttle but somehow the possibilities of high-speed warp engines on a small craft got the upper hand and I ended up with a courier.
(If you want to visualize a Tultrak Class think of the Type 11 shuttle from 'Insurrection' but enlarged to about the same size as a Runabout or a Talon.)

Comments are certainly welcome, but please be gentle on me - it's my first try on the Spacedock construction rules

That's a sweet little ride, Lancer. Perfect for cruising through Orion and picking up chicks.

Well Sarge, the thought never crossed my mind, but now that you mention it...
To be really usefull for picking up gals maybe the forward and aft phasers shold be reduced to 40 emitters each. That would give you the 8 SU to up the Recreation Rating to 2. Nothing like a personnel holodeck to make a lasting impression with the fair sex

But seriously I was more thinking to put this little machine to use in a sort of "We need a ship for the important mission but Command won't allow us to go. Let's steal a ride." adventure How about that?

"Oh no! I was so excited to get a date with you that I forgot to top off the deuterium tanks! Now we're out of fuel and stranded here in the asteroid belt. What can we do to pass the time until we're rescued?"

Hey, if you're gonna own a hot little ship like that, you've gotta expect somebody to try to hotwire it and "borrow" it for a joyride. Just hope Law Enforcement recovers it before it turns up on blocks, stripped for parts, in the bad part of the Sagittarius Arm.

Hmm. Gone in 60 Seconds as a ST adventure? Naah.

Sorry for the extreme necro, but would anyone have a good image of this class? I found ONE tiny thumbnail-sized one.

Is it from another source or is it Lancer's creation?

as per Lancers description it is a Type 11 shuttle, just larger (same size as a runabout or Talon-class scout), so 22.84m long rather then 15m long like the Type 11.

Wave Man, the term "wave man" is the English translation of 'Ronin' (Japanese word) and literately translates to "wandering person" and in a modern context a WaveMan is one who is socially adrift or a SalaryMan who is between employers.

This is the only visual I could find.I was hoping someone might have a larger version and/or more views but no luck so far.

It looks like a photoshop mashup of the scout and shuttlecraft from Insurrection, and image search isn't bringing up anything else like it, so I think you're going to have to make it yourself.

It's something from a fan-fiction page called the USS Valkyrie: http://www.ussvalkyrie.net/

I did a search on Google Images and the deck plan was the first thing that came up. Easy-peasy.
