I understand the Ablative Armor rules but was wondering if anyone has changed them so that there is some kind of threshold like that of the shielding. Ablative armor is strong as no damage to the ship occurs until all the ablative armor is gone???

I certainly hope so... otherwise my Attack Shuttlepod design is even more of a deathtrap...<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Originally posted by Rixx Telar:

If damage leaks through the ablative as well, we's gots us a problem, Boss.

If not for physics & law enforcement, I'd be unstoppable!
The idea of ablative armor is that it takes the brunt of a weapon. If the weapon is designed to penatrate armor then the ablative armor acts as a first layer to cause the weapon to detonate on the outside of the main armor.
Since the only rules for those types of weapons in Space Dock deal with Sheilds it is not a main concern.
If you want to play a realistic campain, you could keep track of each time an area is hit. After that area is hit more than 25% of the total ablative armor, then it no longer protects that area.
This would also give the same type of drama that the shows give by the crew having to angle the ship to protect a vunerable area away from the attackers.
