You do not use Auxiliary Power every round -- not unless you want to blithely violate the spirit of Star Trek drama in favor of straightforward wargaming.
Auxiliary power is meant for desperate and emergency situations where the standard allotment of Power from the warp and impulse engines isn't enough. Use it when you really need it, not every round. Think for a minute about how often you saw the characters use it on the show. They don't hesitate to call for auxiliary power when they need it -- but they don't activate it every single combat, either.
Theoretically, it probably should read "[X Power/round used]" -- or something like that. So should a lot of other systems. Perhaps it's not as obvious as I thought.
Probably in the next iteration of Spacedock, I'll put a list of "systems you need to supply Power to in combat" or the like. That should clarify most people's questions, I think.
I was confused because the LUG-Source Book reads "[X pwr/round]." I thought that kind of odd. . .figuring it to mean [X pwr/round used]. And 'The Good Book' (i.e. Spacedock ) was not too clear either. . .
Drat, no more Earl Grey in the Holodeck during starship combat!
Serious, it might be good to call this something like a "RED ALERT" power distrubution. You could even work this out for future ship listings, noting the amount of energy avaialbe for boosting combat systems.
