    You fool!!!

Seriously, what would you like? You don't really expect me to send you all of the emails and such that went back and forth? As a matter of fact, while I kept the hard copy, I did delete those files from my email account. What you should do is to check out the original thread (listed in a post above) as well as the postings at starship battles yahoo group.

As a general round-up, this was an encounter between a D'Deridex class Warbird (the Star Runner) and an Akira class Heavy Cruiser (the USS Vanguard) deep in the Beta Quadrant where the UFP ship had no business being. The Vanguard was tracking down a rumor of a planet that could resist the Borg and the Star Runner was investigating a lost Romulan colony (incidentally placing the star system within the Romulan boundaries, if true!). The D'Deridex carried a pair of Scoutships and the Vanguard carried a complement of 12 Starfleet attack fighters, a Talon class Scoutship, a Danube class Runabout, and the usual complement of regular shuttlecraft. The main engagement took place in the system's asteroid belt and resulted in the loss of the Star Runner and heavy damage to the Vanguard as well as the loss of most of its fighter complement. The Romulans got off a signal to the Star Empire and the Starfleeters were seriously damaged in the middle of nowhere. The Empire is considerably closer to the star system than the Federation.

And there you have it, essentially.

Oh yes, I do want command of Vanguard (or at least a wing of SAF's).

My we start off where we left off? If so can I continue playing my old character? The CAG (Commander Air Group)?

    Cool

JALU, let me dig out my hard copy and find out just how bad a shape the Vanguard was in. I can tell our new Narrator how far the Romulan borders are for purposes of anything else showing up, and determine how hard it will be to get things back online onboard Vanguard. IF that's where he wants to start at...

Oh, and as far as I'm concerned, you may certainly continue as CAG.

Here is the summary of the final turn for the first Akira vs D'Deridex match.

    TURN 11 RESULTS: GAME OVER!

Commander Seylar of the Romulan Star Navy issued commands to make a run on Star Runner, reinforcing her forward shields back up to over 900 by diverting power from aft shields. At the terminus of the run, Star Runner would point-blank fire a plasma torpedo right down USS Vanguard's throat.

    It was not to be.

As Star Runner sluggishly began to respond to these new commands, USS Vanguard multifired 4 quantum torpedoes into Star Runner's forward aspect. The shields weren't up and 1600 points of damage slammed into the crippled ship! Explosions, hull breaches, failing systems, and finally the general collapse of the main superstructure. Star Runner was expanding wreckage. Romulan personnel who managed to get to escape pods were lucky. Commander Seylar had saved their lives with her order for non-essential personnel to get to the pods.

Crew on those pods and Lt. LaSalle, piloting the Attack Fighter Phoenix had a ring-side seat as he watched the quantum torpedoes lash
into the huge warbird and detonate. Then the singularity collapsed. Star Runner became a star. Lt. La Salle died instantly as his fighter was struck by the shockwave. Only 25 escape pods and some 57 Romulans escaped general destruction. The shockwave raced out from the blast and washed over the shields of the other Starfleet ships, blowing out USS Vanguard's meager forward shields. The other ships survived the blast unscathed, but USS Vanguard's forward shields collapsed and her sensor systems were 25% damaged. Twelve more crew were killed from conduit feedback explosions.

Captain Ronaldo Marques now had a dilemma. He had won the battle, but the war might not be over. Commander Seylar had definitely contacted the Star Empire about her find and Starfleet's presence. There had to be a Romulan Task Force on the way right this moment. He had a badly damaged starship with unrecovered shuttles and fighter all through
this part of the belt. Recovery would have to be effected through the forward shuttlebay until Engineering could get the aft bay repaired.

Sickbay facilities were filled with radiation and decompression casualties. Marques wasn't sure if Vanguard could face another battle
    in her condition.

And there was the Romulan's discovery. What had they found on the planet and what were those strange anti-proton readings coming from Planet 3's larger moon? What had become of Star Runner's away team?

Should Captain Marques take the time to investigate, or should he do what his instincts told him and get the hell out of this system? And did he have a duty to rescue the Romulans who had escaped the death of their ship?

    ***********************
This ends the Akira vs D'Deridex simulation. I think we've proved that Starfleet Attack Fighters can make the difference. Throughout
the main part of the battle, the Star Runner had to deal with crippling blows from the wings of fighters rather than concentrate on
Vanguard. Those blows depleted her shields away and she was helpless to deal with the big attack from Vanguard.

Also, random chance played a factor. If Star Runner had managed to get initiative on turn 11, she would have been able to reinforce her
shields and get close enough to Vanguard to put some big hurt into the Federation ship. Unfortunately, with her SU's so depleted, Star Runner still wouldn't survive long.

Well new GM . . . how is this going to happen? Are we going to have another fight . . . will you develop this into an actual game? Are the Rommies going to be roleplayed also, or at least the few survivors?

The way I see it . . . the only Roms that are alive are those who escaped in the escape pods . . . the Vanguard and her debouled Air Wing are the victors in this unfortunate turn of events. We are crippled . . . and we are far from home or help. This'll be an adventure on its own. :-)

I look forward to being able to replay LTCMDR Lipumano . . . who else is interested in reviving their characters? Or . . . is it just I . . . and others will take their places?

I'd be interested in playing Seylar again, if a reason she's alive could be found.

    Escape pod near the bridge?

I too would be interested in a full game. Even though we're closer to Romulan space that's still pretty far, and the Fed majority would want to go home.

But what keeps Vangaurd's captain from throwing the Romulans in the brig for the trip home?

I don't know any of the email addresses, you might just email the list and get everyone together that way. Also it'll make sure everyone is still on it, since it hasn't been used in awhile.

I'm not sure who of the romulan crew should survive. Commander Seylar should for some good RP about who should be in charge, and give the other surviving romulans someone to follow.

I think the Empire would be pleased, especially with all the Akira information Star Runner sent before destruction.

I still have the Email list for the Feds do you want me to email them?

How about the Rommies? Any one got their Email list? And furthermore . . . which of your crew gets to come back? A very important question if I may say.

Will your captain be praised by the RomEmp for valiantly protecting this new powerful weapon? Or will he be shunned for possibly destroying the alliance. Will the surviving crew cooperate with their rescuers? Will they try to mutiny? Will they rather try to make it planet side and survive there?

So many possibilites lay ahead of us if we make this a full blown game . . . I pray to God that it is . . . I so wanted this to continue . . . shoot I did more RPGing here then actual fighting . . . especially with my CAG/Diplomat/Romulan Concentration of Study background that my character has.

My wrath . . . for whatever do you mean

You know I'm not the one to use violence first to solve a situation . . . you remember how my character was. However, I am itching for a game.

And since this is already well developed . . . and we have people interested . . . I say run with it! I'm just wondering where that prospective Narrator ran off to.

The game that was on the Board

    http://www.trekrpg.net/Board/ubb/For...ML/000297.html

This'll be the string that contains all that was reported to the LUGboard @ large.

To Answer CMDR Powers Email . . . I was in the Onizuka on my way back to the Vanguard as the Star Runner collapesed under its artificial Singularity . . . I was rimward of the Vanguard at that point, with the rememts of one of the wings.
