    Cardassian War

Has anyone run an adventure set during this time? Are there any good references other than the brief mention of the war in TNG episodes?

    Thanks

Widlstorm brought out a pretty good graphic novel called 'ENter The Wolf', which dealt with Ambassador Sarek's early diplomatic meeting with the Cardassians. It was pre-war but it might give you a few ideas.

According to the Dominion War Sourcebook, the Cardassian War was a series of skirmishes rather than a full blown war...raids and counter-raids...surgical strikes...limited objective operations are probably the order of the day.

    That makes sense.

Similar to the way the Federation was considered tp be at war with the KLingons for years, but it wasn't exactly a full blown war per se.

Actually, it would be quite interesting to approach it with te healthy dose of Cold War type intrigue, leading up to the actual war itself.

The Occupation of Bajor and the Cardassian War

One thing that is always overlooked is what support did the Federation give Bajor during the Cardassian War.

I'm sure there was a level of covert support for the Bajoran Resistance and I'm sure Starfleet Intelligence was helping the Resistance with advisors.

The question is would that be a breach of the Prime Directive? I don't think so. The Cardassian Occupation is hardly an internal affair. Remember part of the peace treaty ending the war was a Cardassian withdrawal from Bajor clearly supporting the Bajoran resistance was on the Federation's agenda.

Since Bajor has been petitioning for entry into the Fed. and since the Fed. is seriously considering it, that means (to me) that the Bajors have warp tech. which is one of the governing factors in the Prime Directive. So, it could very well be that the Federation had "observers" on Bajor during the War and the Occupation, but not many...SI had lost too many operatives to the Obsidian Order during the War, they learned not to put too many agents in a postion where the Order could turn them.

As part of my comprehensive history of the Bajoran Occupation ( http://remember-forever.tripod.com ), I put together a chapter detailing ever canon reference to the "Border Wars," which is what the Federation called their years of conflict with the Cardassians.

You can access that chapter directly at http://remember-forever.tripod.com/f...federation.htm

FYI, if any of the facts on that page seem sketchy (such as my statement that the Border Wars "broke out between the Cardassian Empire and the Federation within a few years of the Cardassian annexation of Bajor.") it's because the references were pretty vague to begin with. I make it a point, however, to never jump to conclusions, so if you see it mentioned on my Web site, then it was officially mentioned that way in one of the Star Trek episodes.

    Hope that helps!

Jabara, I just used up about 30 pages printing out A Time to Live, A Time to Die. It will be a while before my group gets to Bajor, but I'm looking forward to springing this one on them.

Thanks Jabara...Looks good...I'll have to rewatch the Cardassian TNG episodes that I taped off of the TNG marathon on TNN!
