    BACKGROUND & HISTORY:
Nobody has ever accused the Romulans of running an ineffective intelligence service, in fact the Tal Shiar has struck terror into the hearts of the stoutest space-goers… The D'Dredar is an example of their effectiveness.
When the USS Defiant was refitted and launched for duties in the Gamma quadrant, Starfleet approached the Romulans with the concept of fitting the vessel with a cloaking device to increase its effectiveness as the lone Alpha and Beta quadrant ship working in the Gamma quadrant.
The deal was struck, and in exchange for the cloaking device, which was to be operated by Romulan Personnel, on the first officer exchange programme between the two powers. In return, the Romulans would gain access to the valuable data collected in the Gamma quadrant, especially that on the Dominion.

However they gained more than that, in an effort to preserve their secrets Romulan technicians fitted the cloaking device. Making it an integral part of the ships operating systems. These technicians then returned with valuable data concerning the latest Starfleet ship, a highly capable warship with several new weapons systems.

The Romulans decided that the platform was valid and with only a few modifications adjusted the spaceframe for Romulan systems such as the Quantum singularity drive and the newly developed Singularity torpedo's, designers adding a very few 'touches' to the finished ship.

The ship looks uncannily similar to a Defiant class vessel. The Warhead has been replaced with a Romulan style 'bird head' control area, where the Ships Bridge lies. And the Defiant's 'stubby' wings are replaced with a somewhat more graceful looking set, tipped with the warp nacelles, they mount the 4 Pulse Phased Disrupters co-axially, 2 per wing. The large centre where the bridge is mounted on the Defiant now houses a larger computer core and more spacious shuttlebay.
And of course the vessel is constructed in the funky green metal that Romulan ships are all made of.

Just did the LUG stats for the Vidian-class (not to be mistaken for the Phage suffers) Starbird for RSN.

Mind if I tack on here?

    Please...see I'm smiling.

Well, if you like, feel free. By why not start its own thread. Then you can check out how many people (other than myself) who take a wander through the pages...

It would also make it easier to find 6 months down the line...

Trust me I know... I had to find the old archive for this!
