    local (planetary) police

    What do y'all use for an overlay for local (planetary) police force.

    For instance: Bajoran militia.

    Thumbs up

    I've built up a 36 point template.

    I have posted it before, I think in response to the last time someone asked this same question...

    Unfortunatly, my Microsoft Office has failed me and the Excell file is unavailable to me... I will send it to my work email address and post it tomorrow.

    Law Enforcer
    - By DanG

    The law enforcer can be found throughout civilised space. Known by various titles, 'constable, sherrif' and the like, some even hold ranks in various militaries. But the law enforcer can range from the lone frontier protector to the darkest corrupt official.

    Energy Weapons (Choose Specialisation) 1 (2)*
    Language, Federation Standard 1
    Personal Equipment (Choose Specialisation) 1 (2)
    Primitive Weaponry (Stun Stick) 1 (2)*

    * For enforcement agencies that do not issue firearms or weapons, use unarmed combat or intimidation.

    Thank Michael, for pointing out the missing skill. One so important it should have been in the main package.

    There are Law Enforcement packages in the DS9 Core rules and the Raiders, Renegades & Rogues sourcebook.

    Unhappy

    Actually neither the DS9 core book, nor RRR covers law officers...

    DS9 has templates for;
    Colonist, Diplomat/Politician, Maquis/Rebel, Merchant, Mystic, Pirate/Smuggler, Spy and Warrior.

    Whilst Raiders, Renegades and co. has;
    Assassin, Bounty Hunter, Gambler and Theif.

    But not a law officer among them...

    I have been meaning to work up a template for UFP Marshalls... the idea being that Starlfeet does not have to do all the work of law enforcement.

    Marshalls would be a mix of the frontier "cowboy" mentality and the "US Marshalls" idea of specialized manhunters.

    That could be an interesting alternative... Sort of like the Civilian version of the Starfleet Rangers that Steve Kenson wrote???

    I would be interested in those, would you be using the 36 point civilian template or not?

    Haven't really thought it out, just jelling the idea, but I suppose the 36 point would make sense.

    I got the idea when a player wanted his dad to be a frontier law man who shunned him for going into Starfleet.

    Well, if its just a background idea... The above template should work out fine, I tried to design it to be generic, able to suit any cultures law enforcers...

    perhaps a training package to have additional training at starfleet facilities would be in order... Civvies get a 9 oint template, so it should be very easy to alter an appropriate academy package;

    Federation Marshalls Training (9 points)
    Civilian authorities within the Federation can opt to have their senior officers attend Starfleet Facilities for further training. there they attend alongside future frontier Marshalls who serve and protect often in conjuction with Starfleet and local planetary defence forces.

    These training courses are also often alongside 3rd year Starfleet academy cadets who are often undergoing their first taste of the martial side of Starfleet.

    Energy Weapon (Phaser) 1(2), Planetary Tactics (Small Unit) 1 (2), Law (Federation Law) 1 (2), Code of Honour (Uphold the Law) -2, +1 Vitality or Dexterity Edge, Contact (within Starfleet Security or other Law Enforcement agency) +1.

    The Package is open to all federation law officers, while it is the basic training for the Marshalls, and alongside Starfleet Academy Training. It was believed that such cross training would breed greater teamwork and cooperation, as well as skill uniformity, between the many agencies in service accross the Federation, a tactic which, so far, has worked.

    I like this a lot, though I'd also add "Law (Planet/Legal System) 1 (2)" in there somewhere... maybe at the cost of a two point obligation to the agency... Just a thought.

    LAW!!!!! D'oh...

    Guess you could say I kinda overlooked that obvious one. But I wont put it in with an obligation (Besides it would need a 3 point disadvantage, and thats about the same Obligation as Batman...

    OK, original template will be edited.
