I personally like Saavik, the Kirstie Alley version anyway. Robin Curtis was well...she just didn't look the part (must have been the mass of curls - quite un-Vulcan in my view).
    Arise, arise, Riders of Theoden!
Fell deed awake: fire and slaughter!
Spear shall be shaken, shields be splintered,
    a sword-day, a red-day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!

Well it was only mentioned in the script (sadly), but I have a nack for romulans--- Saavik (Kirstie Alley's)

The only Vulcan I ever really liked is Spock. Sarek had his moments, but I never felt like he could be a real friend to anyone except Amanda.

Yeah, it was sad this never made it to the finished film (A deleted scene perhaps?) It's interesting to note that the novel Vulcan's Heart touches base on this issue a few times. A good read.

I would have to say I liked both Saavik's, and given they already changed her once, I think Valeris should have just been Saavik as well.

If memory serves correctly, the producers (or someone high up) wanted to, but couldn't reach the actress or something like that.

    Actually...

Here's the scoop on the Valeris/Saavik thing.

Nicholas Meyer originally wrote the part in ST6 to be Saavik. But Gene protested that "Saavik would never do that" and demanded it be changed.

Since Mr. Meyer actually created the character of Saavik for ST2, it rather cheesed him off being told what his character would or wouldn't do...
