I agree.

I would wait though until the 1st Season has past before I try and use "Enterprise"...just so we get a better feel of the Universe.

What the heck is the name of the class?

Has it been said in any of the magazines yet?

The farmer's weapon (did you notice how much more it resembled a shotgun than a rifle) was referred to as a "plasma rifle" by one of the Starfleet Admirals in San Francisco. The pistols in use before the "phase pistols" are called "EM Sidearms" (cf dialogue from "Fight or Flight"), the rifle the Sec guard had in Sickbay in "Broken Bow" was a "pulse Rifle", specifically a Class III (again cf "Fight or Flight'). The "phase pistol" is said to handle almost like an EM-33 (once more, cf "Fight or Flight").

As for the class of the Enterprise O1, since she is the testbed prototype of her class, the proper designation would be Enterprise-class.

Since the hull number is NX-1, Enterprise must be the prototype and lead ship so I presume it's of the ENTERPRISE-class.
