    Diversity, Sex, and Rape.

Tucker gets raped and impregnated and it doesnt really bother him at all. Did anyone else find this to be...I dont know...unrealistic?
What are they trying to say here...
What if a man gets pregnant. Lets briefly touch that issue have the Vulcan chick chastise him and move on.
Not to be a voyager fan, but if that happened to B'lanna you know shed be up set. VERY upset
I would be angry if someone had sex with me with out my knowledge or understanding and then...left me with a bun in the oven.
Was this episode written by a pediphile?

Actually I have to agree... that episode was completely stupid.

So far E rates 2 really horrible, stupid, moronic episodes and 2 OK-but-not-great episodes.

    Not doing very well IMO.

Hrm. I guess that would depend on the alien culture... I mean, she called it "playing a game." If that's about the depth of meaning the aliens put on the implanting of a baby, then Trip is more or less the victim of a cultural gaffe. She was also surprised he ended up pregnant - she didn't think it could happen inter-species...

I dunno. He was willing to play a game with her, and she wasn't forthright in what that game was - unless, like I said, her culture views the passing of genetic material to their men to be pretty much that important: hey, you want to hang on to my baby and give birth? Oh, okay, sure.

*grins* I think it was kinda campy, very TOS-y, and made me chuckle - I think Trip didn't feel particularly violated, which is, I suppose what it comes down to - how the individual feels about the act.

    Arrow IT DEPENDS...

    ...on the definition of rape.

AFAIC, it was an accidental pregnancy. The female did not try to have control over the male victim. A rape usually involve a sense of control over the submissive against their will (by violence or by drug).

As she has said in their private conversation, she didn't think that human is compatible to their natural sexual reproduction method.

But hey, if you want to charge her with rape, by all means go ahead.
    Anyhoo, just some random thoughts...

I'd guess she thought of it more as casual sex, given her surprise that the pregnancy occurred. She apparently felt no need for "protection" since she didn't think cross-species conception would be possible.

Clearly, they do care about their children, since it mattered to her whether it was "too developed" to be safely removed from Trip. But they never explored what would have happened if it had been -- that would have been a good storytelling opportunity, but probably too complex to be carried off credibly by the House of B&B.
