Question Cargo space as weapons storage

Working on ships for a non-canon race who use lots of fighters. (Their fleet will be based somewhat on the Empire from Star Wars, with allowances made for how tech works in Trek) Given the huge amounts of cargo space you get for an SU, I'd think that you could carry an awful lot of crates of pho-torps & micro-torps, they just wouldn't be in ready to use condition. Is this kosher under the Spacedock rules? I may have to trade the micro-torps on my fighter design for more (or better) pulse phasers otherwise.

No, it's not kosher. There are specific costs for torpedoes; you can't cut costs by claiming you're storing them in cargo holds. The cargo holds are specifically for cargo -- supplies, big containers of stuff no one ever uses but are great to hide behind during phaser battles, spare parts, empathic metamorphs in stasis, and so on.

BTW Steve, this reminds me of the thread about ship modularity that was going on a few months back, ie. swapping complete sections of the ship for others.
Have you had time to give this topic some thought?

No, I haven't given it any specific thought yet, I'm afraid. It's probably going to have to wait until I have the time and desire to prepare the next iteration of Spacedock.

That's what I figured. I was hoping that having them being not ready for immediate use (ie, unable to get them ready in the timeframe of a battle) might have been a work around. No biggie. One suggestion for possible use in later versions of Spacedock, though. Index the amount of cargo space you get per SU to the size class of the ship. For that matter, size one ships seem to be rather Tardis-like, even without cargo. Anyone remember my "Widowmaker" Size 1 fighter?
