After seeing many comments on this board about the “Mirror Universe” episodes from TOS/DS9 and so on I decided to run a short “mini-series” of games set in the Mirror Universe of my game.

In my regular game, we play in a time period a few years after TMP era, the current date in my ST game is 2304 AD , in the Mirror game it’s 2304 as well.

This is not the normal “PC’s go to mirror universe” game…in this game series the PC’s will play there counter parts in the Terran Empire…and all the ruthlessness that goes with it. Every now and then I like to give the PC’s a break from being upstanding by-the-rules Starfleet officers, and let them “unwind” by playing some “shadier” characters…normally I’ll roll them up some Klingons and let them loose in the Triangle sector….this time I though I’d do something different.

Another difference in my mirror game is that in this history, mirror Spock was killed by Kirk upon his return to the ISS Enterprise and so the Terran Empire continued on it’s Klingon-like path of war and domination of the Alpha/Beta quadrants…The Romulans have been all but subjugated and reduced to wandering “gypsy” type of star fairing nomads. The Klingons have been attacked relentlessly for a hundred years by the TE and are down to a handful of star systems left….the Empire has just recently discovered a pact between the Klingons and a new race called the Cardassians.

In the first game my main PC Adm.R.T. Darrison (now called Field Marshal Darrison) commanding the ISS-Unforgiver a Slayer Class Battle Cruiser (Ambassador Class) is sent by the Empire to the planet “Platonius” (TOS episode “Plato’s Stepchildren”) because the empire as learned not only of the substance called “Kironde” that can endow humans with powerful psychokinetic powers, but also that the platonians have made a deal to give the Klingon Resistance large quantities of the material to hopefully use against the Terrans.

The Platonians attempt to destroy the ISS-Unforgiver with there powers…but this fails when the evil Field Marshal Darrison quantum torpedo’s the crap out of several cities from orbit before they can gain the upper hand . Darrison beams down his 200 man Imperial Marine detachment and lays waste to the Platonian Council capturing their leader (Yes it’s Parmen from the TOS episode).

At this point PC #2 Grand Inquisitor Travis from Imperial Intelligence (Formally Adm. Jack Travis head of SF Intelligence in the regular game) shows up and “interrogates” Parmen (unfortunately Parmen died of a….heart attack at the end of the “interview”) and finds out that one of the few remaining Klingon Resistance battle cruisers is in route to the Platonus system to pick up the Kironide, the Grand Inquisitor tell’s Darrison that this is a perfect chance to capture a Klingon flag officer and find out where the Klingon High Council has been hideing since the fall of Qo’noS to the Terran Empire.

As per standard Imperial Prime Directive, any planet found in open rebellion against the empire is to be destroyed,….thus the Emperor himself authorizes the use of the dreaded “Genesis Beam”…and Platonius is destroyed.

A short time later the Klingons show up…are promptly attacked by the PC’s ship and soon beaten, the location of the Klingons new hideout/homeworld is found out.

Of course all during this time there is intrigue and chicanery going on aboard the PC’s ship….the Chief Engineer (PC #3) and the First Officer (PC#4) each have a “faction” that are in conflict with each other….seems the chief engineer wants to be first officer…there are some gang like battles on the ship…Field Marshal Darrison understanding that this is how things are done in the Empire, still attempts to “calm” the situation by using the Tantalus Field in his quarters to vaporize a member of each faction . However it all ends up coming to a head with a pitched knife fight between the chief engineer and the first officer on the bridge with the Field Marshals blessing to “get it over with you fools”…
End result first officer dead…CEO now new first officer.

In the end, Grand Inquisitor Travis and Marshal Darrison figure they can use the Kironide they captured to remove the emperor himself….unfortunately for them the emperor has spies on every ship and soon they end up fighting each other for the right to survive in front of the emperor himself…Inquisitor Travis ends up dead…Field Marshal Darrison ends up on the Imperial Penal Colony of Rura Penthe digging dilithium by hand.

Was actually a fun game breaking the character mold now and then is pretty fun for all involved.

More to come, I’m playing a mirror character next week.
