    Talking Starfleet Slang Dictionary

When you think of one or if you use it in your game post it here so other can use it.

Cardie, 2350's and on. refers to Cardassians

Jimy, 2370's and on, refers to Jem'hadr warrior

Gamma's, 2330's - 2370's refered to an original crew member of a newly commissioned ship, connected to the gamma wielding of frame members in ship construction. i.e. He is a Gamma on this ship. Term fell out of favor when personnel learned that Jem'hadr warriors refered to one another as Gamma's or Alpha's.

Nacelle Hermit, 2340's - 2350's. refers to someone assigned to the Nacille monitoring room.

Red Jacket, 2360's and on, refers to old timers in Starflet, in reference to the old service uniform jacket. i.e. "Jake is an old Red Jacket from way back when." Also: A Red or Red's

    a) Nacelle is spelled... as it is earlier in this sentence.

    b) Red shirt - he who will die within five minutes of touching the planet (2260s-2380s, despite change of uniform color)

    c) Cochrane jockey - fighter pilot, named for the first clase of Starfleet fighters (23rd century - possibly 24th)

    d) Miracle worker - he who multiplies the times for repair by four (late 23rd century)

Among the enlisted, at least "spoonhead" is a derogatory term for Cardassians dating from the Federation-Cardassian War.

This is a clever idea, and I like the examples already concocted. Here are a couple more:

Pajamas -- a Starfleet non-dress uniform from the 2360s (TNG era). Perhaps applicable to uniforms in general.

Green Machine -- the Romulan Star Navy.

There was something very similar in FASA's Next Generation Officer's Manual. The following are from memory:

Fire photons - to throw up (especially in zero gravity)

Sensors locked - to notice an attractive member of the opposite sex.

Ridge out - to lose your temper (i.e. like a Klingon)

Pig Pen, 2160's 2200's, Term used for Main Engineering in reference to the predominence of Tellarite Engineers in early Starfleet (I remember seeing this on a post one time I can't remember who's though)

Snout to the matter, 2160's -2320's, an engineer who is working hard on a problem to solve or later meaning clearing his desk, came from the predominience of Tellarite Engineers in early Starfleet.

Uncurle Your Tail!", 2170's and on, to relax and back off, a derogatory statement in reference to Tellarite stubborness and debating habits.
