RED ALERT! Disk game fan expansions

I thought that I would post here as an FYI. There has been an ongoing expansion to the LUG RED ALERT! Disk game. Here are the websites where you can download the expansions in PDF format, and some notes from Curt Covert the principal man involved in making this dream come true.

For those who are interested, here is the scope of the work completed placed in context.

Original Game Release: approx 220 disks plus counters, torps and control panels.

The 'would have died on the table' Dominion Expansion disk specs brought to life: 111 new disks, Maneuver rules expansion, 2 new factions (Breen & Jem Hadar), Penetrating Beams, Hardened shields, Impulse Crits disk abilities added.

Escalation: A whopping 243 new disks plus templates and navagation hazard components. 1 new faction (Maquis) with unique rules, Refits, Firing Arcs, Emergency Batteries, Tractor War rules, Adjustments to Ferengi faction, incorporation of carrier rules, and a number of new character and tech abilities.

All told, this game which had such amazing promise, whose life was cut short, ended up with 354 new ways to play as a result of this e-group. Not too shabby. Enjoy! And we'll see what 2002 brings.

Oh...just in case anyone was interested. Here's how the disks in
    Escalation broke down.

    Breen: 20
    Cardassian: 54
    Federation: 40
    Jem Hadar: 35
    Klingon: 30
    Romulan: 34
    Ferengi: 21
    Maquis: 8
Templates and other game support items: 11

Cool! I've been looking for this since I bought about 20 packs and 4 starters at the hobby shop. I'll sure use 'em in my game.

    Kudos to the creators

    Is the game fun?

    Fun AND easy.

I even managed to play it with an 8 year old.

An excellent starship combat replacement that's quic kand easy (If you have it all set up already)

    P.S.

I just downloaded everything. It looks great, an excellent addition to the game. Now only if Decipher would continue it...

    Great Game

I love this game, as you might guess by my work on the Downloadable disks. I designed most of the Ferengi Disks for theEscalation expansion.

This game is as easy for 6 people as it is for 2 too play, and my game group really enjoys spending a day at it.

I would also like to how many still play. Sevekk- maybe a poll? I used to play fairly regular until August 7th, 2001, when my baby daughter was born.

Boy, how my schedule has changed! I haven't played at all since then. But I do miss it. It is a VERY fun game. If you want to post updates, I will probably read them just out of curiosity.

One day, I will return to Red Alert... ahh yes!

    I still play it

I never played it very often, but I still do when I get a chance. There's a Creation Trek convention here next month. Anyone think I might be able to find some RA there if I go?

We still play it, though irregularly. I've downloaded most of the updates and printed them off, but haven't gotten around to cutting and pasting them yet.
