Well the thing would be, once you can see the aliens, it becomes quite easy to avoid or even kill them. A tricorder can pick them up, you can even see them, etc... but if you can't resist their Mind Control, your brain will edit them out and every reference to them as well. So Uram just need to lock in her quarters or the bridge or wherever, erect a force field around the place, and she'll be safe.. but chances are she'll end up in a really fragile state of mind (that way, it's even more easier to edit her warnings ).

As for the ship, well, like ghosty said, anything could happen...
Hey, why for instance, wouldn't you twist the plot further and add a rather advanced species (but only in some areas, maybe for instance, with high psi powers, but very little tech, something the level of Enterprise), that tries to fight the aliens, and, seing that ship infected, decided to stop the spreading into an unknowing world (the UFP ), and, applying some sort of PD, throwed the ship far away to avoid contamination.
That way, they could even later try to stop the Crew's effort of getting the ship back, but still avoiding to show themselves.
Both good ideas C5, but only one hitch ont he lock herself in her room, the Captain is her husband. She may try to fight to the bitter end on that one

Overall, a ship full of dying people may be very, very hard on a powerful empath/telepath. Would most likely drive her over the edge.

I like the idea that the alien species, who are pacifists, send the ship away rather than destroy it

THe only problem is how Cdr Uram stays sane in the face of all this. Well why does she have to. Try this, she goes completely off the bend (since she's a PC you'll have to get PC cooperation for this one) but in her demented state manages to fight off the psychic parasites, maybe the parasites can't handle a mind like that (or maybe her personal shields are too strong for them to overcome).

Now enter the Lexington...and well they recover the insane Uram and well enter solo adventure for the ship's resident counselor or Vulcan to try to unscramble Uram's mind. As a thought maybe its her Romulan stepdaughter who helps her pull through, you can't start the bonding process too early can ya.
It would work well, as her roomate plays Jago Vlasdric, the little psionic Boslic on the ship as well

I love it when a plan comes together

The Romulan stepdaughter could certainly provide support, but like most of her race she is a psionic dead-end.

I don't believe it this became a "hot" thread and in such a short time too.

Okay, on the subject of the Romulan since she's genetically a Vulcanoid, she would have the gene for pisonic powers its just recessive due to separate social/cultural development of the Romulans. THis could be an opportunity to awaken her long buried psionic potential....

    Ohhhhhhh

I like that idea my man, good thinking Ghosty.

Certainly considering Zymmer's last thoughts may have been how much he loved his wife and his daughter...she could pass those thoughts onto Valera which could trigger something...

    Hmmmmmmmm...

    Ooops...

Well, for one thing... either the Captain could be amongst the first to be stricken, and Uram not have the time to save him... or, much nastier, the Captain could have resisted all her attempts to save him, maybe eventually sending her to sickbay thinking her insane or something.

Did I went to the Dark Side or what ???

    Good damn I'm good aren't I.

Its always fun to introduce players to new facets of their characters they never knew they had. It'll also give stepmother and daughter something else to bond over. Part of Uram's therapy may well be to show Valera how to control her new found abilities. For better game balance give her powers that are not normally found in Trek, telekinesis may be an idea or something dangerously volatile like pyrokinesis. The Player's Guide has loads of interesting psionic subtypes.

Zymmer looks at his wife, and the steely determined look on her face. She won't be listening to reason this time. He thinks. He draws his phaser and POW stun blast.

Well give that Urram (PC) was rated as the most powerful Betazoid psionic in about 100 years and Jago (PC) is the first recorded Boslic with psionics and she is creepy powerful, I don't think I want a 3rd powerful psionic on the ship.

Maybe just some empathy and telepathy eh?

    Hmmmm...

Or he holds out the longest, because he is her Imzadi and as such she can connect with him and show his mind what is up. So he and she struggle to save the crew, but in the end she can't save him.

He makes her promise to survive and take care of Valera.

Much better than going dark on this one...I need something for her to hang on to, some glimmer of something.

I never said powerful just a bit out of control. Even a low grade TK can cause trouble if they can't control their powers. What I'm getting is that she should have powers that the other two don't have making it more difficult for them to help her control and focus her powers. Here I go again, more character plumbing. Can't help it I guess.
