Well I'll ask my friend when I see him, but IIRC he was using Hotline (I'm not very good at that sort of search).
Captain Jonathan Archer
Subcommander T'Pol
Commander Charles "Trip" Tucker
Lieutenant Malcolm Reed
Ensign Hoshi Sato
Ensign Travis Mayweather
Doctor Phlox

"The main difference between Trekkies and Manchester United fans is that Trekkies never trashed a train carriage. So why are the Trekkies the social outcasts?"
Terry Pratchett
I like Trip because he's got a sense of adventure and humor, his "where no dog has gone before" quip was perfect. I also see the inevitable romance between Trip and T'pol, if only to help her through pon'far; some of my friends say that there's no way that that's going to happen. I always point out that Spock was only the first Vulcan-human hybrid to join starfleet (at least i think that's how it went), not the first hybrid. Though thinking about a Trip-T'pol love child brings to mind the child running around in the New Frontier books (shudder). If there are children to be born, and several episodes have talked about children being born on deep space ships, I hope that they deal with them off screen...
I like Captain Archer, but he needs more depth. He reminds me a lot of Captain Gold from the SCE series, or even Captain Pike from the pilot...speaking of which, there was a Starfleet man in the pilot who looked the spitting image of pike, i have to believe that that was intentional, perhaps pike's father or grand-father.... One thing that pleases me about Enterprise is their care to make the people, uniforms and settings look similar to the very early episodes of TOS -- i'm thinking cage, charlie x and whatnot -- the hair and uniforms especially.
T'pol, well they need to reduce her Seven of Nine wardrobe. yes, she is a beautiful woman, but i would be much more happy to see her in more traditional vulcan attire, perhaps with some jewlery. She just seems so plain in those jumpsuits that are practically sprayed on. There are times if it wasn't for the ears, that one would think that she was just a very cold, distant human.
They really need to give the poor security chief (Reed?) something more to do then fail at target practice. I've read that in a future episode his birthday comes up and no one knows enough about him to know what to get him -- no kidding!
I also enjoy the african-american space born ensign. Though why he's simply an ensign and not a lt. is beyond me. As was mentioned in one show, he and other space boomers have more experience than most starfleet captains...I really hope that they avoid the "eternal ensign kim" gag and promote him, soon.
I want to like Hoshi, I really do, but that scream of death and the slug episode really, really turned me off on the character. Again, the producers and writers should look at the SCE books to see how a linguuist and cultural expert could be used to much better effect. hopefully she'll evolve into more of a first-contact specialist who's good at languages.
The doctor is simply fun, a bit too neelix for my taste, and the actor has gently compained in print that he'd like to have more to do, but his part in the episode where he joined in the religious ceremony during the pulsar was wonderful, and his lecture to T'pol about infinite diversity was worth making enterprise in the first place....
Hey, C5.... That's not as if I ain't anything to do... But my PC soooo wants itAnd so do I!
Well, I had to vote for Trip, for most of the reasons listed above.
But I also like Capt. Archer, I kind of like his style of quiet-group command. He gives out and out orders when he has to, but he's shown to be flexible with crew ideas so far.
Wolf.
Trip rocks. He's my bud. Cool dude.
One of the benchmarks for me when evaluating Trek characters is if I feel compeled to want to "hit the pub" with them. If I think "Hell yeah, this person would be cool to share a pint with!" then I know the writers and the actor have done a good job with the character.
Steve's pub buddy list:
Kirk, Scotty, Bones, O'Brien, Jadzia Dax, Garak, Quark, Jadzia Dax, Martok, Jadzia Dax. That would be one heck of a good party.
Steve
(Yes, I know I listed Jadzia three times!)
