A source has revealed that LOTR will release on the 30th of January and that the Trek game will be next month.
As always this can change. But some news is better than no news.
All right, own up that man! Er, source!
Come on, Aslan, "<I>a source</I>" is much to vague!

Methinks it's probably an employee of either Decipher or one of the big distributors. I doubt that the Capt. can tell us, for fear of that person's job!
Or... WORSE!
"Honey, some stern men in black suits are at the door... they said something about the LOTR game...?"
"Really... ok... um..." (Quickly runs out back door)

Sweet. Thanks for the scoop, Cap'n! I'll update my news page with the "rumour".Originally posted by Captain Zymmer

Really, I can live with this!
My source has said a release date of Feb. 2 for DECTrek.

For sure.
I believe the same source revealed a release date of "Late January" for the DECLotR.

1/30 (LotR) and 2/2 (Trek) seems kinda odd - I'd think I'd want at least a few weeks separating my major projects if I were Decipher. It's not that I can't see LotR coming out first - at present, it seems a hotter property - but I'd want to space them out a bit more. But hey, I'm an engineer, not a marketing dude...

1) Name. Everyone knows Decipher as the CCG Co., But everyone may not know they have gone into RPGs. If I hadn't joined these boards I wouldn't have known...I'd still be wondering what happened to LUG.
So they put a Fantasy and Sci-Fi, the 2 biggest genres in RPing, out almost at the same time so they introduce the Name all in one shot.
2) What do they have ready to go now, and what have they got coming down the pipe. So they can get the supplements out as soon as they are ready.
3) What is Dec's Logistical System?
Now, my Marketing skills are a little rusty (I work in the Retail end of things) so I am probably wrong on all 3, but that is my guess at any rate.
That would be the Adventure Game and not the RPG, guys.
As for the validity of the dates, I'll just shrug--you can't predict dates in this industry.

Well, they raised the price of the Trek books by something over $4 for each book. I just got the notice from my comics/gaming supplier.
I hope that's a 'really cool pictures' price increase.

Adventure Game first makes some sense... I seem to recall the plan was for the LotR Adventure Game, followed by Trek RPG, followed by LotR RPG.
