Crossovers

Has anyone else brought in characters, species, or technology from other franchises to their games?

I have introduced the Nietzscheans from Andromeda into the Trek universe because I just thought that they fit pretty well...

    Always...

I've gotten a lot of use of the Vagr (from Traveller) and the Yazirians (from Star Frontiers).

Upcoming adventures will feature the Sleestak (Land of the Lost) and, if I can figure it out the details, the Daleks....

Klingons, but without honour or brains. They're the one thing from Andromeda I don't like, although they've been retooled a bit for this season.

I've adapted a few things from other games - Vargr and Aslan from Traveller and the Yazirians (Dan and I think alike, I guess), as well as a Slarg from Fringeworthy. I've also used the H.R. Giger alien from Alien, but who hasn't?

    Um... Lucifer.

From a short short story entitled "Displaced Person" by an author whose name escapes me.

Really f'ed up the mind of my mythology-obsessed First Officer.

    Mind Flayers from DnD.

Those things scare me more than the Borg.

I believe that you are thinking of the Kodiak Pride whose abilities were engineered strictly for combat...Jump first, think later. I personally like the Sabor Jaguar Pride, engineered for intelligence as well as Brawn.

    Each to his own.

BTW, in which ep does it say that the Klingons are intelligent?

Actually did that once in a DnD game. Had the players rolling in the aisle. Yes they are more scary than the Borg simply because they are a group mind with Psi powers.

THe Kzin have made an appearance as have the Lyrans (from SFB). Most of the SFB races actually exist in the game but they've yet to make an actual appearance.

Oh one PC had an encounter with a Treecat (Honor Harrington) but no one believes him .

A pseudo-Gua'old race (adapted from Stargate SG-1) has also appeared.
    Arise, arise, Riders of Theoden!
Fell deed awake: fire and slaughter!
Spear shall be shaken, shields be splintered,
    a sword-day, a red-day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!

*Waves happily at another Honor fan*. Good choice in literature dude

Funnily enough, I'm just in the process of ripping off some ideas from the Honorverse for my campaign. I'm also about to reintroduce an energy-based, Gua'old type species (only nastier) as well.

The atevi from C.J. CHerryh's foreigner universe books make excellent aliens for trek: ebony humanoids with gold eyes with no word for love, with a political/cultural system that would make machiavelli wince -- assassination is a respected avenue of political theatre, though one must first provide a notice of intent. The atevi homeworld possesses a small human enclave (stemming from pre-federation human colonial efforts, if being used in a trek campaign...) and stands testiment to why the Prime Directive, and protocols regarding first contact are so important. Human-atevi contact (the atevi were semi-industrial and mostly feudal at the time) led to a very nasty war and humans being exiled to a small island with contact limited to one...one human ambassador as the humans filter tech to the atevi which by the time of the novels makes them ready for space flight....

how the federation would deal with such a situation would make for an interesting episode, or even a short campaign. Make the atevi-humans warp capable (but just barely), they've achieved a kind of world government (and remember internal politics, even the rather nasty and violent atevi kind would qualify as an internal matter...), and the atevi are already "contaminated," or at the very least aware of other cultures and species....

    Crossovers! Now you're talking!

I've always wanted to cross Trek over with various anime series. here's some ideas I've had:

Having a ship visit El Hazard would make a terrific exploration campaign. Pre-warp civilizations mixed with highly advanced ancient technology, ancient mysteries and displaced earthlings would generate countless ideas for a campaign.
The Jurai from Tenchi Muyo and the Raalgon from Tylor would make excellent aliens for a Trek campaign.
For a lighter campaign, I would have a crew encounter Galaxy Fraulien Yuna and friends (with the Captain and crew playing it straight. Imagine encountering a horde of techno-magical girls...
The pirate ship Sol Bianca would be a worthy antagonist for a starship crew.
The best way to predict the future is to create it.

Anime crossovers - great idea! If I hadn't planned to get one of my big story arc into high gear real soon (that just doesn't fit crossovers very well), I would use this at a moments notice!
Maybe after my players have dealt with Section 31.

And you are absolutely right about the Jurai and the Sol Bianca.

How about the aliens from Detonator Orgun? Humans with the single minded determination of the Borg and the technology to back it up should be a worthy adversary for any crew.

And the Zentraedi from Macross (aka Robotech) could be used as an ancient servitor race of the Iconians or T'kon.

Hmmm or a Zentraedi taken over by a Gua'old... talk about BIG problems.

Err, Lancer...you're posting in stereo now?

    More anime crossover goodies:

Magic Knight Rayearth: A Starship enters a dimensional rift to Cephiro. An excellent campaign setting.
Captain Harlock and Queen Emeraldas: good characters for a pirate cappaign.
Saber Marionette J: The idea of a lost all-male human colony could make for an intersting exploration campaign.
Cowboy Bebop: Easily transplanted into Trek with a little fine-tuning.
Nadesico: With a little work, the concept could be adapted to the Trek universe.
Like your ideas also, Lancer.

P.S. I would definitely recommend to Starfleet changing the uniform's style to those on the Nadesico anime (Trivia: the creator of Nadesico used ST:TNG as the inspiration for the uniforms in the anime.)
