    Chug, Chug, Chug, . . . .

Slight different, but still relatively the smae advantage lays in the fact all charcters will share basic skills.

Basic Core Professional Requirements (27 DP’s)
All Starfleet Cadets learn a core set of skills which will be of use throughout their careers with the service. Many of these skills harken back to basic military skills such as energy weapon and unarmed combat of the various military schools from many member worlds while yet still teaching them the needs of the modern service such as Personal Equipment and planetside survival.

    Athletics (Choose specializations) 1(2)
    Dodge 1
Energy Weapon (Laser or Phaser) 1(2)
    First Aid (Combat/Wound Trauma) 1(2)

Once again , Eric...great work! They should hire your butt at decipher.
"War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

Very nice, very reminicisent of the old FASA system.

I always felt the two Character Creation Systems should be merged together

You know I am still not happy with these.

For one I don't like how your branch training is assumed to be apart of your academy training. Seems that the Academy should be about producing well rounded officers within a normal higher education environment.

Secondly the Academy is one of those few institutions which can produce inadvertantly true Federation Citizens, in other words people who will think more of themselves as Federation citizens first rather than Citizens of another world/culture before being Federation citizens. In this way it kinda reflects the way the US Military Academies functioned in the 19th century, in that it was the one place that brought together people from all over the country and from taht they gained a sense of US citizenship over their State citizenship. (Note this statement is prolomatic if one takes in account the 150+ officer active Alumni who went south in 1861 but even then I can argue they felt more Confederate than Southern in some ways.)
