    Question Trek Names...

    Just a bit of wondering...
Has anyone put together a list of "Trek"-type names for characters and NPCs?
You know the type - sort of split up by race, etc; so that you can have distinctively Andorian sounding names, for example?

There's on around for Star Wars, and I found a good site thru the 2300AD mailing list that has a multitude of various human ethnic names - but nothing for Trek.

    Thanks...

Well, I had to create filler names for a small ship a little while ago... give us some extras and redshirts for the background, and so on. You know, so that somebody can report "We lost McAllister and Sytek, and Raggal's going to be in sickbay for a week, but the warp core didn't blow up. Sir."

I don't have it with me, but I could post the list later (minus the names of my command crew, of course -- can't have anybody else killing them), if that'd help.

For Andorians you've got everything you need in the andorian book. It's an interesting problem though, it would be logical that names sounds differently depending on the specie. But except for the Vulcans, Romulans and Klingons even trek writers didn't care much about that (for exemple Ferengi names are just short, and Bolian names have nothing special). Would be a nice idea to develop in our campaigns.

I do not remember where I saw it, but it had to be from a Transporter Room link. It was a site with a ton of names for all the major races.

    Sound familiar to anyone?

Reading Kronok's post made me think about this site: The Bajoran Central Archive

It lists a lot of names bajoran and non bajoran, it may be of some help.

For Bajoran names, just look through the DS9 Companion and "borrow" names from minor characters. Take the first name of one character and the last name from another, and you've got a new name.

LUGTrek isn't really dead. Not as long as we remember it.
