The title speaks for itself. I just got it today and am reading it. Will put my thoughts down in the near future.

Arise, arise, Riders of Theoden!
Fell deed awake: fire and slaughter!
Spear shall be shaken, shields be splintered,
a sword-day, a red-day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!

I disagree... what is SCE?
Well I thought everyone knew.
SCE - the Starfleet Corps of Engineers is a e-book series published by Pocket Books. The fist eight e-books have recently been turned into a 2 volume print-book.
The premise is a team of specialist engineers, linguists and computer experts who perform special engineering tasks from recovering lost starships to investigating alien tech.
Its a series that's not based a TV series (like the New Frontiers novels) but several minor characters from TV appear as principals including Sonya Gomez (from TNG's 2nd season) who's executive officer and some guest stars from DS9.

Theoden King: The Return of the King
Wow that sounds really interesting, I'll have to check out the local bookstore for it

Theoden King: The Return of the King
Picked up S.C.E Book 1 yesterday. I'm only a couple of chapters in, but I like what I have read so far. This is the series they should have done for TV.
Just finished "Interphase, Book 2" on the way to my new place of work, and am now trying to read "Cold Fusion" through my fits of rage and sorrow. Man that store is in trouble...
Book good however.

One thing I like about SCE is that most of the team are enlisted specialists which is more realistic than a mass of officers doing everything as they do on TV.

Theoden King: The Return of the King
Just finished reading Book 2. Another fine piece of work. I nearly choked up tears at the end of "Interphase". Loved the cameo by Nog also. After that last story, I have a feeling that Gomez is going to have some bad nightmares for a while...
P.S. This book also includes a handy minipedia of the S.C.E. universe, formatted like the Star Trek Encyclopedia.
The best way to predict the future is to create it.
That seems to be the trend in Trek novels not based on TV...they included one in Book 11 of the New Frontiers book.Originally posted by Highway Hoss

Finished it last night.
Again, I say, great storytelling. "Invincible" had a good plot device: it is made up entirely of letters or log entries. Usually, epistolary format does nothing for me, but it worked well with Gomez and the others... "Interphase" book two was a wonderful ending to the story begun in "Have Tech, Will Travel." And though I felt Nog was a tad out of character, "Cold Fusion" was an interesting little tale - though I wanted to know more about the Androssi - did anyone else start wondering if you'd missed a story somewhere?

Yep I did. But obviously its part of the back story that the writers want to feed us a bit at a time.Originally posted by Michael Barratt

I don' t mind backstory, but I do mind when it's central to the plot and it would make more sense for the characters to be discussing it a little more: poor Nog sat there with a "Huh?" expression for way too long.Originally posted by ghosty

Is anyone thinking about doing LUG stats for some of the new races introduced in SCE...Atrean, Nasat, etc?
What has been said about the Atreans, though?Originally posted by Phantom

The Nasat I think I could take a crack at...
