Just created the SwiftSure, Warspite and Vanguard for my new movie-era series. All old British naval names with a long history, and I was trying to avoid yet another USS Ark Royal

In my campaign they're Andorian-modified Constitution-refit (Enterprise) class vessels.

    Your mileage may vary...

USS Half-axe, that'd be, what, a Defiant Class?

Unfortunate mistranslation from the Andorian probably.

Hey, it could have been a typo on the form.

Work Crew member: "Hey, this form says this is the USS Halfax, is that right?"

Work Crew foreman: "It's on the form, that's the name we paint on it."

Hence, the Sovereign class USS Halfax was launched.

Hey who turned off the lights?

As to the topic I usually go with a name from ancient myth, Greek or Roman

    My favourites:

    Cerberus
    Minotaur
    Centaur
    Scylla

Or famous military persons or Scientists
    Augustus
    Rommel
    Evans
    Blegan

Here are a few I like:
    Ticonderoga
    Bunker Hill
    Kitty Hawk
    Venture
    Hood

Military sounding names all, but Kitty Hawk is the birthplace of aviation so it's rather important too. Hope someone likes some of these. In my campaighn The Ticonderoga (Tico) is the third Soverighn off the lines.

In my campaign, I have a number of ships named after Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Armed Forces ships:

    Bras d'Or
    Bonaventure
    Magnificent
    St. Roch
    Athabaskan

So, is the USS Ambrosia a supply ship? I mean, ambrosia is a foodstuff, the legendary "nectar of the Gods." Is there also a USS Molson Canadian or a USS Coca Cola Classic? How about a USS Romulan Ale or USS Bloodwine?

    How about a USS Snapple?
    Or a USS Jack Daniels?
    USS Diet Pepsi?

    others:
USS Big Ben - Is it named after Sisko or the parliament clocktower?
USS Arthur C. Clarke - "My god! It's full of stars!!"
USS Bouncer - Part of the Mars perimeter defense, of course
The darkness inside me is a lot scarier than the darkness out there....

    USS Bras d'Or

Hey Owen, care to guess what was the first thing that flashed through my mind when I read that name? (nudge nudge , know what I mean, say no more)

But seriously, my French isn't that good, so could you tell me what Bras d'Or really means?

    USS Socrates
    USS Plato
    USS Aristotle

I've also used the USS Paragon, Parliment, Faithful, and my current favorite, the USS Frontier.
