Hey - has Phantom come out of the closet yet?

So far we've only had one ship, a Galaxy class which I let my players choose a name for. I don't think they were in the Star Trek spirit when they chose:
    USS-Tyrant
Still, it's blown up now and I'm trying to think of a name for a Sabre-class ship, although I think "Foil" and such would be a bit daft as far as names go. I reckon it should be named after a fencing master, USS-Degrasse or something.

    Gilgamesh
    Enkidu
    Mobius

Boy, what a lot of names! I'll add a few we used in my campaign...

    U.S.S. Wolverine (Defiant class)
    U.S.S. Adamant (Defiant class)
U.S.S. Kurosawa (obviously Akira class )
    U.S.S. Adventurer (Sovereign class)
    U.S.S. Zeus (Intrepid class)
    U.S.S. Twilight (Nova class)
    U.S.S. Pioneer (Intrepid class)
    U.S.S. Melville (Steamrunner class)
    U.S.S. Falchion (Saber class)
    U.S.S. Khopesh (Saber class)
    U.S.S. Hemingway (Sovereign class)
    U.S.S. Havoc (Defiant class)
    U.S.S. Tempest (Akira class)
    U.S.S. Eisenhower (Ambassador class)

Hmmm... I'm sure there are more, but that's what I recall now.

Dont forget adding letters onto ship that have been destroyed.

    Like

USS Valiant-A :Original destroyed crossing the Great Barrier.
USS Melborne-A: Original destroyed at Wolf 359.
USS Yomata-A: Original destroyed by a ship wide computer virus.

They did it with the Enterprise why not others

You don't need to add the 'A' to 'recycled' names for starships because it's not the tradition. Yes, they do it for the Enterprise, but that is an exception to the rule.

After all, you don't see Sisko's Defiant having a letter behind it, do you? It's not an original name - there was a U.S.S. Defiant in Kirk's time in the TOS episode "The Tholian Web". There might have been more in between, but if subsequent ships must use the letters, Sisko's ship should at least have had registry NX-1764-A instead of NX-74205. Clearly it did not (note that the NX is necessary instead of the usual NCC since the Defiant was an experimental ship - the first ship of the 'Defiant' starship class).

How about USS Armand D'Hubert, with a plaque quote of "We came here to kill each other. Any ground is suitable for that." (Or maybe "A compliment to the cavalry" as a more obscure & less warlike quote...) And if anyone can name the movie without resorting to IMDB, I'll be impressed...

And Sarge puts it right in the x-ring. I knew that the "A complement to the cavalry" was too big a hint...
