Thumbs up Starfleet Command III Announced

Activision, owners of the Star Trek license for computer gaming in the Next Generation universe (makers of games like Star Trek Armada, Armada II, and the new Bridge Commander) has announced a modified version of the Starfleet Command game system to be released around Christmas 2003.

If anyone has ever played the pen and paper version of Star Fleet Command or any of the three preceding Starfleet Command computer games, this is a treat.

P.S. Note, for those who have played Starfleet Command, Empires at War, or Orion Pirates, I suspect the game engine in SFC III will be completely different since Activision (not Interplay) is developing this game. I've asked Chris Jones, a well-regarded modder for Starfleet Command, to comment. You can check out his website for mods at

Excellent... I have always had a preference for the TNG ships... So its about time that the Starship Command range let people like me in on the fun!

Actually, Activision is the new publisher, but Taldren (the team behind the earlier games) is still doing the design work.
