Post Need ideas for Alpha Quadrant missions

The people which are currently playing in my campaign are aboard an Excelsior class starship in the Alpha Quadrant. And I am running out of mission ideas to put them up against in my campaign. Any and all ideas plus plot points or scenes which I can use during the mission would be greatly appreciated. basically just looking for mission ideas (plots)

Not to sound too obvious, but...

Have you already considered going for the "source of all good Trek rpg ideas", namely, the episodes and movies?
Even if you don't have a collection of Star Trek episodes and/or films on video, there's still rental videos, or maybe this is a good time to visit that old ultra-nerd friend who does have a lot of tapes...
Maybe you have any Trek reference books (The Star Trek Encyclopedia, for example); that way you can at least READ about episodes.

Failing all that, why not just sit down with a notepad and scribble down every episode, or part of an episode, or movie, you liked about Star Trek? I've found that if you mix those favorite snippets around enough, and pay some attention to what really makes your players tick, then the game plots begin to present themselves!

Then again, maybe your prob is just that you're feeling the DM-strain for some reason, and what you need is not so much new plots but a break from gaming routine. A good remedy in such cases is to talk with someone not involved in your current Trek gaming group (it has to be someone whose opinions about roleplaying you value, though). As the cliche goes, two heads know more than one...actually, what you can set in motion this way is that you get a fresh take on an old problem, namely a perceived lack of plots.

Oh, and in closing I'd like to remark that if you are one of those who think that there are no more stories left to tell in the Alpha Quadrant....think again. This is Star Trek roleplaying, after all, not a contest to see how innovative a gamemaster you can be. Borrow shamelessly!
Just as an example...suppose you're (or one of your players is) a big fan of those nifty episodes in which Captain Picard focuses upon his archaeology hobby. Archaeology; sounds dull, right? Well, just think what usually happens in those TNG eps: all kinds of mayhem break loose, from alien smugglers to pranks by the Q, roguish seductresses, etc.

The trick is to give a plot like that a new "coating", a new "feel", something tailored to your crew (they'll love you for it if they can play Picard- or whoever they adore). If you can pull that off, no one will question you about originality or whether you stole something or not.

Hope this rant helps you out any.

    Try these...

    1) Mighty Joe has designed some cool adventures- complete with MAPS and DECKPLANS! (They are writtent for FASA so use the "FASA to LUG conversion tables" found here on TrekRPG.net). Mighty Joe's scenarios can be downloaded here...

    2) You might already have these, but they're well worth mentioning. Two excellent books from LUG: "Planetary Adventures: Federation Space" has five ready-to-run adventures, and SJohn's "Narrator's Toolkit" is chock full of episode seeds and good ideas on how to develop adventures.
