Edward Bolme & The Star Trek Collectible Dice Game?

    Howdy -

While digging through some old games in my collection, one of my players snagged the Star Trek Collectible Dice Game - "Sweet!" he exclaimed. "I wanna play it."," Me too","oh me three!" came the replies... oh boy....

Well, now I am stuck. I've got 5 players who want to do this, but I only have 3 ships: Enterprise E, Borg Sphere and the Klingon Vorcha + all the boosters. They don't want to do multiple copies of each ship - aka they all want to play something different

I know this goes back a while, but does anyone out there still play this game? At one point, while this was still done by Five Rings Publishing Group, there were playtesters and user created ships for the: the Defiant, Romulan ships, Runabout, and a few other misc federation ships.

I talked with the creator of the game, Dan Verssen - IIRC, but he wicked passed the buck and said he didn't have any of the material and gave it all to wotc (which I find extremely hard to believe, If you worked so hard on your own creation why would you not have kept a copy for yourself?)

Did Edward Bolme work on this game at one point? Perhaps he can help me...

So, does anyone out there have any ship designs from way back when? or could someone point me in the direction of some good resources for this ancient game? I know I am asking alot, but I figured rpg.net is the best place to ask for such a thing.

Help me out here, I am begging! ^_^

    Cheers,
    Aztecman

Gee, good luck on that one. The STCDG was one of the most innovative ST game ever designed IMHO. I didn't quite like it at first because of my wargaming slant but once you appreciate its abstsractive system you recognize how fun it can be.

They did come out with a Galaxy set. It was a shame that the game just fell apart. I really liked the fact that you could play out starship battles without using counters and a hexmap; and the dice and displays were of excellent quality; damn! You make me miss that game!
"Oh better far to live and die
Under the brave black flag I fly,
    Than play a sanctimonious part
With a pirate head and a pirate heart!"
