Favored and Sacred Weapon

I was wondering- How does the Soldier's ability of Favored Weapon interact with the Weaponmaster's ability of Sacred Weapon?

I wa working on a Klingon Bat'leth master the other day, and noticed that the two abilities are vary similar.

Do the abilties add in some way (For instance 3 ranks per pick, but -8 with other weapons)?

Since both abilties are prerequesties for some interesting Tier 2 abilities it makes the combo rather likely to come up.
