    DecTrek at bookstores?

hi just wondering if there are any plans to sell DecTrek at bookstores like Waldenbooks or Bdalton's -- whenever I ask they just shrug and say that they can't get the books, most likely because Decipher doesn't have any contact with their corporate buyers or something. Gee guys, Waldenbooks has 880+ stores, and Bdalton's has hundreds as well -- both stores keep huge inventories of Star Trek novels and whatnot -- lots of opportunities for cross merchandising -- missing a big opportunity here!

    just a thought...

That is something for the Decipher's management to decide, and decide fast.
    Anyhoo, just some random thoughts...

Yes, I too am puzzled by Decipher's apparent lack of distribution. Aside for "local gaming shops," the only place I was able to find the book was Decipher's online store. It seems like only common sense that Decipher is missing out on big sales opportunities by not selling their rpg through other chain stores such as those listed in the above posts. Not to mention Amazon.

Oh well, I can only hope that in the end Coda-Trek comes through and is very successful.

Drat. Thanks for reminding me of a news bit I forgot to put online.

The VP of marketing dropped me a line to let me know that both Borders and Waldenbooks have been shipped their orders of the PG. (Geesh, that must be a massive number of books.)

No word on how long until it makes it through their respective supply chains (Borders and Waldenbooks).

So, you guys might want to cut Decipher a little slack on this one point.

    Thumbs up

Cool. Good to hear, it was kind of strange to see Decipher pass up on selling a book in over 1000 stores. Both stores in our town have large sections just for Trek Books (no kidding). Now perhaps I'll be able to pick up a copy! thanks.

    Atlirith! Love the handle.

    thanks!

I'm hoping that Decipher releases an Andoran sourcebook that picks up where the LUG version left off -- expansion of material from Enterprise, the new novels (especially DS9 which features Andorans). but to be really honest, as I have the excellent LUG version of the Andoran book, I'll really just settle for a CODA version of Mirror Mirror! (the LUG version of which had at least a chapter devoted to Mirror Andorans -- hint hint...I only hope that the CODA version will include this material...).

and tying this into the thread -- I look forward to getting these books at a bookstore where I have a card that gets me coupons so I can buy MORE Trek stuff.

yep. I'm a trekker, but I don't wear a uniform to work.....ye gods I busted a guy watching that Trek documentary -- I love trek, I read trek, I roleplay Trek, but Trek is make-believe people, Don't goto work dressed like a klingon and expect people to treat you seriously.... remember Trek is fun, it's not a lifestyle....

and as I have no real ending for this silly rant, I'll simply bow and walk away....

    Cool

We had a visit from our collectables buyer last week, and you may be sure that I filled his ear with Decipher! I got his attention with Lord of The Rings (we carry nearly everything else published for LoTR) and then slammed him with Trek. So maybe Books A Million will be carrying Decipher shortly.
