    Exclamation Sector Arrangement

    Just thinking about sectors yesterday (was flooding and couldn't leave the house).

    They indeed can be mapped out in a 2d arrangemnt that makes sense with the 'majority' of listed sectors and political boundaries.

    As well the Starbases, atleast to begin with were matched up with their respective sectors. But delving to far into the higer numbers soon puts that out of whack.

    So the Trek production crew/writers had at least a vague idea where all the sectors are.
    And the 20000+ sectors really aren't that far away; out to around 1500 ly.

    Will me mapping this out soon, feedback please!

    Still with SB they most likely are named as built (number) in the upper end.

    Cool

    SIG,

    Looks like you have your work cut out for you. Hopefully we'll be drooling over your maps. You seem to have gone about building your map in a methodical fashion. Can't wait to see it!

    Also, thanks for visiting my webpage. I hope it didn't take too long to download the trek files. Geocities can be a pain sometimes.

    Indeed Gentleman & Ladies?

    Although the maps as such exists only as scrawl on a scrap of paper as a plot of sector numbers.

    When I do add this detail to a map on the 'puter, I shall email all who asked.

    But if you want to check for youreslf, try this.

    :10:11:12:13
    :09:02:03:14
    :08:01:04:15
    :07:06:05:16
    :20:19:18:17

    etc. Where the corner of sectors 1,4,5,6 is where Sol is only just into sector 001.

    Thus the alpha/beta line is the borders of:
    11:12/2:3/1:4/6:5/19:18 etc.

    And thus by this:

    Sol - Sector 001
    Alpha Centauri - Sector 004
    Andor - ? I believe Sector 004 (haven't plotted yet)
    Vulcan - Sector 005
    Tellar - Sector 008, maybe 007 have to check.

    Of course this assumes that:

    Andor = Epsilon Indi
    Vulcan = 40 Eridani
    Tellar = 61 Cygni

    Stay tuned, more with!

    So far the only sector giving me major grief is sector 97, which by this scale puts it out on the rom/kling border.

    The problem? Sector 97 is where the Black cluster is, and the Breen have a few outposts in the area.

    The solution?

    1) Ignore it for a more logical number like 87 (near alpha/beta border, around rommie space).

    2) Treat it as a far flung outpost with the likes of the Breen outpost in the badlands.

    3) Maybe in 3d the Breen are over that way? Leads credibility to the Klingon attack of legend (2nd dynasty?)

    Most other sectors are round about right. Although by this arrangment, carddie space goes from around 507 to 21500; some 1000 ly. And the 20000+ sectors are 'generally' around the DMZ.

    Sector 507 is from Treachery,Faith,Rivers. Where Odo meeets the defecting Weyoun. Now since Odo came from the station and they went to some moon, Im guessing near the badlands (logical, plus the speed of a runabout).

    Thus by this reasoning; Cardassia/most of the Badlands is in sector 507, and Bajor is 506.

    Still that would put the DMZ some 1500 ly from earth rim/spin

    Sign m eup for the map too, SIR SIG. Also, I believe you are using the chi factor (129.72 or somesuch) in your calculations, right?
