    Icon Ship Combat in Coda

    Let's say you wanted to run a scenario for CodaTrek but you just can't avoid getting ship combat into the mix. Well, you don't have the Narrator's Guide yet...but you do have all the Icon books and Spacedock...

    Can the Icon ship combat system be converted to work with Coda as a temporary measure until the Narrator's Guide comes out? If so, how would you suggest going about it?

    Step 1: Convert the TNs over from ICON/SPACEDOCK to CODA

    Step 2: Look over S. Long's rules for using Courage in starship combat (in SPACEDOCK). This will give the players some more flexibility/survivability in the hybrid system so they can last until the NG comes out.

    Step 3: Run.

    Starship combat was on a different scale from the rest of ICON/SPACEDOCK, so as long as you adjust the TN's to fit the CODA scale, you should be able to run starship combat.

    I would think that would be pretty easy, actually. Just change the names of the skills used in the tests and modify the difficulty names and numbers to corroborate with the TN's of Coda.

    For example, if something is listed in Icon as being a Routine (4) Shipboard Systems (Tactical) test, in Coda it would become a Simple (TN 5) System Operation (Tactical) test.

    Hmm,

    ICON-----CODA
    Routine=Simple
    Moderate=Routine
    Challenging=Challenging
    Difficult= Difficult
    Nealry Impossible= Nearly Impossible

    For a full chart (for ICON difficulties of 6,8 etc.) Use 5/3ICON-1 2/3.

    ICON-----CODA
    2=2
    3=3
    4=5
    5=7
    6=8
    7=10
    8=12
    9=13
    10=15
    11=17
    12=18
    13=20
    14=22
    15=23 (maybe 25 to keep Nearly impossible)
    16=26

    Just remember the difficulties have different numbers, you should be fine. USe the old ship stats for now; shuld work smoothly enough.
