Who I thought I was the only one round here that remembered Count Iblis.

Very interesting idea. He could fit very easily, or that type of character, into the Trek universe as a villian. Very interesting indeed.

But should I make him an Iconian, or simply not tie him to that plot?

    New Evil.....

I think it would be better to have him other than Iconian. A new race would offer some real mystery to your players if any of them were familar with the Iconians. Besides it was suggested that the Iconians were rather peaceful an not the conquers that history made them out to be. Just a suggestion.

I think I agree. I want to leave them thinking he is the devil.

Where did you get that bit about them being peaceful from?

In Contagion, the episode that introduces the Iconians, Picard comments that history is usually written by the victors, and that the Iconians may well not have been the villians they were protrayed as. I rather liked that.

Also Data suggested that the portal was most likely a transporter room and not a war room or troop deployment area. He did not think it was intended for military use.

Well several people have followed in the footsteps of Robert Bloch and mixed the Cthulhu Mythos in with trek.

Basing this bad gy on Nyharlythotep (I doubt I got the spelling right) might work, and give some hints for possible "aliens" for the PCs to interact with.

What if mystery guy was an old adversary of the iconians? One of the people who led the war against them?

That would be a very cool idea.

Another thought that occured to me, and one I've thought aobut using myself for a long time, would be to introduce the Slavers, as mentioned in the Animated Series episode, The Slaver Weapon. It occurs to me, that since Aslan uses the Tzenkethi as the Kzinti, that it wouldn't be too much of a jump to introduce an ancient splinter of the Slavers, who rules the galaxy billions of years ago. Maybe they've been sleeping, waiting to return. After all, they had incredible stasis technology

    Just an idea anyway

    Hmmm... neat ideas...

Since I am going to use the Iconians later, so I wouldn't want to tie him in totally. I think I should keep him a completely self-contained idea. Though good instinct on that one dude.

Slavers? Great idea Cap! I willd efinately use this as an adventure down the road too

    Cool.

And in case you haven't seen this, it's worth checking out http://www.larryniven.org/kzin/ for information on the Kzin. I'm pretty sure there is information, or links to information, about the Slavers.

Slaver info can be found here: http://www.oinc.net/knownspace/Enc/

It's not much and you may or may not want to use it, but it's worth a read.
