Post Who would it be?

So which Delta Quadrant species would it be?

Also, don't assume the same 70 timeline for returning home. What if it's the Kazon? Their ships (if memory serves) are not capable of high warp speeds.

I think that the Federation would offer to escort a ship home, but why drop them in the middle of the Federation? Drop a ship full of Kazon in the middle of the Klingon Empire and have them figure out what to do.

Better yet, dump them in the middle of Cardassian space. While the Federation, the Romulans, and whoever else is there cleaning up from the Dominion War, there is certainly a whole lot of space that is unmonitored. Hook the Kazon up with some unscrupulous Ferengi merchants and give them some better weapons, engine upgrades, and so forth. They could trade for these items or (in true Kazon fashion) raid a convoy and steal them.

Another idea I once toyed with was dropping an alternate reality group of Krenim Imperium folks into Romulan-controlled space and having them travel back to the Delta Quadrant believing. These Krenim were somehow unaffected by the whole wiping out of their empire and are unaware that the Krenim Imperium no longer exists as they remember it. Give them powerful disruptors and temporal torpedoes, run them up against a D'deridex-class warship, and then watch the sparks fly.

We know that the "Dragon's Teeth" aliens - the Vaadwaur - have some subspace cooridors that reach the Alpha or Beta Quadrants. They could certainly wreak a lot of havoc in the Cardassian Union, staging raids and conquering some of the more backwater planets. Imagine them taking over some minor system with a couple of habitable (and/or inhabited) worlds and rebuilding their fallen empire.

A Talaxian freighter convoy could make an interesting Series as well. They could meet up with the Federation and perhaps found a Talaxian colony in UFP space. Better yet, have them be merchants and hook them up with the Ferengi. That could be fun!

A group of Vidiians (prior to their cure from the Phage) may be accidentally sucked into Federation space while looking for a cure. Their ship is too badly damaged, but they are rescued by a Federation science or medical ship. Returning to Earth (or wherever), a cure using synthesized Klingon DNA is found for the Phage by Starfleet Medical and the prodigal Vidiians are restored to perfect health. Their new mission is to return home with the cure for their race. Starfleet might even place them as mission specialists aboard an experimental Starfleet vessel headed for the DQ. I'd say that this should fall in Voyager seaon two or three.

The Cravic (the robot race) could find themselves in the Alpha or Beta Quadrants, perhaps even captured by the Romulans (or whoever) and taken apart, analyzed, and then used as the basis for a new race of android soldiers (or whatever). Or perhaps they're too tough for the Romulans (or whoever) and kick a little butt. Or perhaps they encounter the U.S.S. Enterprise-E and meet up with Data. Or perhaps they recognize that their situation has changed and request asylum/probationary membership in the Federation.

I think that it would be great fun to have a group of Delta Quadrant aliens show up in unfamilliar space and have to find their way home (or not). Many DQ species would probably prefer to remain in UFP space as the Delta Quadrant is less desirable a location (in some cases).

Interesting idea. It's also a good way to introduce some Delta Quadrant species long term if you wanted. Say a group of Talaxian refugees looking for a new home (which I'm thinking of doing in Intrepid).

Why does it have to be a known race?

And lastly, how WOULD the Federation help them?

1 - Given that the Viddians are dislike and distrusted, probably even after the phage is cured, and are therfore likely to be persecuted if they remain where they are known...

That given, I like the idea that the Viddians might become far more alturistic and 'Federation Friendly' when given a chance to make up for the evils that the Phage made them commit.

Talaxians seem to prefer the company of their own species... Sure, but the various episodes of Voyager showed us that they have no qualms about WHERE this is... their home planet, or a mining colony hundreds of light years away...

The Kazon and Trabe... Are all but nomadic anyway... The Trabe certainly cannot return to their homeworld while the Kazon are strong...

The Borg... dont really have a homeworld.

The Vaadwaur, lost their homeworld and are probably looking for a new base of operations to settle...

and lastly the Hirogen, are most certainly a nomdic species who's network crosses into the Beta Quadrant, and comes close to, if not enters Romulan Space...

So the lure of a homeworld would at first glance to appear far less strong than anywhere else...

- Doesn't have to be a known race... you can make up anything you like... but we can only offer judgement on what we know... not what is unknown...

- Of Course the shiney, happy, plush-covered, Federation would help them... No matter what they chose to do, from assistance in setting up a colony, through to seeing them saftely across Federation space, they would be unlikely to send an escort unless things were tense, but they would keep an eye out.

The only difference would be if contact began as hostile... Then the Feds wouldd likely defend themselves before a final attempt to diffuse the situation... And if that too fails... Then they would finish it, but only when no other choice was available.

An interesting idea!

How about those chaps that persecute Telepaths? Could be a challenge for a SF crew.

If its late in the game, SF might send a scientific escort to check out stuff that Voyager hit apon.

Also bare in mind when Voyager had its first chat with SF. They were redirecting 2 ships to meet up within around 6 years or so.

The Krenin stuck in the Alpha Quadrant would make an interesting faction in the Temporal Cold War, perhaps they even started it in an attempt to get home...or just carve out a new Empire for themselves.

Revolutionary Holograms seeking to liberate their fellows in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants would make an interesting Conspiracy like series.

How many Caretakers are there really? Were they only located in the Delta quadrant, or is there one or more of them in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants -- they might be the ones who drew the Delta Quadrant ships into our side of the galaxy...

just some ideas.

"What do you mean KAZON life signs?"

Okay, here’s something I’ve been thinking about since my last post:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maj Culluh, leader of the once-powerful Kazon-Nistrim faction, has fallen into disfavor with his people. A virtual pariah among his fellows, Culluh (along with his young half-Cardassian son, Uruk) gathered his loyal followers, a trio of starships, and made a hasty egress from Kazon-dominated space.

While searching for new opportunities and new merchant vessels to prey on, Culluh and his “convoy” made their way into the Nekrit Expanse, a region relatively unexplored by the Kazon. Detecting a small merchant vessel, Culluh commanded his ships to pursue and attack, hoping to ransack its cargo for food, weapons, or anything else of value. Despite their tenacity, the small merchant ship outmaneuvered its larger pursuers and escaped into a dense nebula.

Undaunted, Maj Culluh and his “armada” pursued their quarry into the nebula. Much to their chagrin, they were immediately trapped by a powerful gravity shear and pulled toward a massive spatial anomaly. Had Culluh been more familiar with the region, he would have known that this intense gravity-based spatial flexure was a well-documented navigational hazard. Un-fortunately, the Kazon were not knowledgeable with the region and thus fell victim to their former victim’s clever ploy.

Despite their valiant efforts, Culluh’s flagship and his two subordinate vessels were pulled into the anomaly and shunted else-where.

When Culluh and his bridge crew regained consciousness, they found themselves aboard a seriously damaged ship, floating helplessly through space in a strange region filled with plasma surges and ion storms. Gathering their wits, the Kazon made what repairs they could to their ship and contacted their fellows.

With sensors once again operational, Culluh pulled up an image of the surrounding area on his viewscreen. His navigational sensors were not working properly due to local interference, but his pilot was able to locate the perimeter of the region and find the way back to open space.

Much to his chagrin, Culluh found himself not in the Nekrit Expanse, or even in the Delta Quadrant. Based on computer files programmed by his dead Cardassian lover, Seska, Maj Culluh and his crew discovered that they were at the edge of the Bad-lands, a violent area of unstable space a few scant light years from Seska’s homeworld of Cardassia Prime.

Realizing the possibilities that might be available to him in this part of the galaxy, Culluh quickly formulated a plan. Launching an emergency beacon set to broadcast on all Cardassian frequencies, Culluh moved his ships into an area of the Badlands that sensors could not penetrate, waiting to ambush whoever arrived to help.

When the Galor-class starship arrived on the scene, the three Kazon warships ambushed it, crippling its communica-tions array. A quintet of ram-shuttles flew toward the surrounded vessel, piercing its hull and allowing the Kazon raiders to board their ship. Within minutes, the Kazon had overcome the small Cardassian crew, killing many and subduing the rest.

Using their elementary knowledge of Cardassian systems, the raiders transported Culluh aboard. He immediately assumed command of the ship and put the remaining Cardassian engineers and technicians to work making repairs (under close supervi-sion by armed Kazon soldiers). The convoy of four ships withdrew deep into the Badlands and, despite being battered by plasma storms, made their way to a calm region and placed themselves in orbit around a massive gas giant.

Apparently fortune favors the bold, for Culluh’s crew – purely by accident – detected an abandoned (though still structurally sound) secret Dominion shipyard orbiting a rogue planetoid. Dispatching a group of Cardassian technicians (many of whom were Dominion War veterans and quite familiar with Dominion technologies) and Kazon soldiers, Culluh hoped to take com-mand of the facility and use it for his own benefit.

Once again, fortune smiled on the Kazon leader. The Cardassians were able to reactivate the shipyard and, thanks to its near-total automated nature, begin production of new ships almost immediately. Better still, thanks to the extreme user-friendliness of the Dominion computer systems, they were able to easily modify existing Dominion designs to accommodate a Kazon crew.

With this extremely favorable windfall, Culluh planned to produce the necessary resources to return to Kazon-controlled space and assume autocratic control of his race, forming a single united Kazon empire under his rule. Thanks to the replication facili-ties aboard the shipyard, Culluh could produce ships, weapons, food, water, and other equipment for his followers.

Not content with his good fortune, Culluh ordered that the first group of ships produced by the shipyard be dispatched to per-form raids on local merchant ships, both to test their capabilities and to acquire new resources and technologies to further their cause. The first three ships were scheduled for completion in less than five days, and Maj Culluh of the Kazon-Nistrim bided his time.

What about a Trabe group lost in the Alpha quadrant, the Feds make peacefull contact with them and proposes an escort. When the Trabe see how powerfull a fed ship is accept immediatly. The plan is to seize control of the fed ship on the way home to crush the Kazons.
The PC would be the starfleet escort.
