Just in need of a little information

Hello Everybody,

I almost don't want to make a post for something as simple as this, but could anybody tell me what exactly the HERO system is?

I assume this question derives from my signature, or the older posts about my change of job. I'll warn you I'm not exactly unbiased on the subject.

The HERO System is a generic rules system for RPGs whose 5th Edition was published about six weeks ago by Hero Games. It originally entered the gaming world 20-odd years ago as CHAMPIONS, a superhero roleplaying game, and has since expanded to cover any genre, character type, ability, gadget, or campaign setting you could think of.

The HERO System covers all genres and characters so well because it's completely "generic." You, the gamer, takes the rules as written and uses them to construct whatever you want. You don't have to pick from lists, or just take what the game's designers gave you, or whatever. It is, as we're fond of saying, a "toolkit" that lets you create whatever you can think of that you want for your game.

There's a bit of a learning curve involved, as with any relatively detailed rules system, but it's well worth the effort involved.

Been there, did that. Played once or twice, not as good as other games, in my opinion. Gurps has a better skill breakdown, Anime has better rules for playing super normal humans, Marvel has better superhero rules, dc has a better spread powers.. it just depends on your personal preference.
