Definitely the Kzin, though I think they'd have to be CGI.
Abilities? They're 9' tall, 500-lb. intelligent tigers with an attitude problem. What more do you need?

The darkness inside me is a lot scarier than the darkness out there....
The Kzin wouldn't be a problem, given that the Wing Commander computer games did a sterling job on the Kilrathi (humanoid lions).

These races I have heard. I thought the question was about creating a race?
Some define peace as the absense of war. I rather define it as the prevailance of liberty

A more alien alien race. Heck, even the 8472s had human motivations. A race that doesn't think the way we do, whose instincts (and thus needs) have evolved along completely separate lines. Since this race is intelligent, it may well be curious - so there's room for interaction. But it might take a long time to understand them.

I don't expect that they'd be easy for human writers to write for, though.Originally posted by Capt.Hunter

A race which is completely normal. Doesn't want to capture, maim or be-head anyone. Isn't exotic in appearance and has comparable technology.

A good insect race woud be cool.
One that does not bargin or backdown.
Dolphins or some aquatic based race
The insect idea would be cool too, I made one once that was able to survive in a vacume, had a hive mind and communicated by Telepathy

There's NOTHING to write for in Alien.
Your motivation: Make more aliens. Kill stuff.
Your method: rip living things to shreds.
There's no thought or dialogue involved They would, therefore, make poor Trek adversaries.
The original Borg were like this. Now, while they were formidable and scary, there wasn't much that could be done with them, with our heroes essentially beneath their notice.
Any kind of story concerning them would have pretty much gone like this:
"One upon a time...
the Borg showed up and assimilated everybody.
The End."

Ah, isn't that hitting the nail on the head? Craven, unimaginative, unskilled writing is the problem with modern Trek, if ya ask me...and you didn't, so I'll go away now....Originally posted by First of Two
