Where did you get the $100 price?

Oh, and don't blaim Decipher because the US dollar is strong.

Someone care to campare cost of living here???

The White Wolf LE sold like mad and became impossible to get. I predict the same here.

Company makes product, product completely sells out, company happy. Pretty simple really.

I can't afford a Corvette, but I am not mad at GM about it.

Interesting way to think about it. Ah well, I wasn't planning on buying an LE anyway.

Well I'm not mad at Decipher for the price. I was considering getting the LE, but am no longer sure it's in my price range right now. I'd like to get it, but as I said, we'll see how the money holds out.

No criticism of Decipher is inferred. They're a business, and have to make a profit. Can't blame them for that.

Agreed. They are out to make money, bottom line

I am mad at the Bank of Canada for not wanting a stronger Canadian dollar. This is because we make more money by having a weak dollar exporting resources. Unfortunately we pay more for everything we bring in as a result

I'm still intrigued at the Canadian/US dollar comparisons. Is the cost of living significantly different?

Basically, in terms of daily wage, is the book costing more than in the US?

I mean the UK pound is about US $1.45, but since a small bottle of Coke is about 60p here and about a dollar there, it kind of levels out!

As for me, I don't have to complain about money conversion rates : it made the NG 4 € cheaper than the PG (since the Euro gained a bit between the two releases) while apparently the prices in $ were the same

Short explaination. The cost of living is pretty much the same between Canada and the US, what cost a dollar in Canada pretty much costs a buck in the States...Though as a Canadian in the US you are paying about $1.50CDN (if I have the exchange right.) Main difference, I think, is taxs. Canadians are more heavily taxed then Americans...One of the reasons for the so called "brain drain."

Also food costs more in Canada, especially in the Western Provinces.

What is the SRP for the NG & PG in the States? Wouldn't the two books combined still be around the $100 mark. I know if you already shelled out the clams for the two books paying for the LTD Ed will be painful.

Each book is, I believe, $29.95. So roughly $60 for both books.

This may be a purely Canadian retail question, but what about sales tax? It has been awhile since I actually bought something in the States, do you guys have to put up with the same sillyness we do up here?

Yup. 7% where I live, though it varies from state to state.

You're lucky in Ontario it's 15%. 7% PST and 8% GST. Though both don't always apply, I think it is only 7% on books.

Me, I'm just pleased that as a retailer I can get it at cost. Otherwise there'd be no way I'd touch these Limited Ed books.
That said, I need a second copy of the Player's Guide as my lot are too lazy to buy their own books. I might sell my normal NG to a player who's a fanatic but a skinflint. To be honest though, along with Hackmaster and Spycraft, this is a game that I enjoy so much I'll probably buy just about anything they publish.

It's terrible what this new RPG is doing to me, I've gone into full trekkie-remission and even bought the TNG Season 2 dvd, which I'm glued to right now

We've got it good and bad - standard sales tax (VAT) is 17.5% (which I think is one of the lowest in Europe). But books are zero-rated - "you can't tax knowledge."

We do have real fun when the company puts dice or a GM screen in the package though - then it's a game and VAT-able
