    Series 2 Problems

Edit note: I've finally decided on a series idea. See this thread:
    http://forum.trek-rpg.net/showthread...&threadid=4302

So I have a problem... I have two friends who want to play Star Trek RPG, and getting them together at the same time to play is like herding cats, since they're both so busy most of the time. One of them is already my solo player in STAR TREK: LAKOTA; I've reluctantly decided to start a separate series for the other one.
But I've used up my really good series idea on ST:LKTA... story arc idea, NPCs, etc. I'm having a hard time thinking of a series idea. Does anyone have any suggestions for pinning down a good concept? I know I want it to be a Starfleet series, but that's it.

What about a game set on DS9, with the player being a junior officer assigned a runabout to explore the Gamma Quadrant? Could be seasons 1-2 of DS9 or post-season 7. Limits the number of NPCs, familiar setting, still Starfleet.

    Voyager rip-off

You may use a Voyager-like concept, only this time it could be a runabout lost in an unexplored part of the Galaxy (or the Quadrant if you don't want to send your player too far).
For instance, some technobabble sends the player's runabout on the other side of the AQ, where he may need a year or two to come back. There could be a couple of NPCs in the runabout to make things easier.
I'm aware this is not technically a StarFleet series, but it could be interesting to play - sort of a small-scale Voyager, with all the troubles to refuel the ship here and there, meeting alien races to whom the Federation is only a distant rumor, meeting known races who could try to take profit of this lonely StarFleet vessel, and of course, the possibility of meeting a totally new galactic power.

    Idea

From your signature line you seem to know about MASH, how about working something like that in. Post Dominion war or almost post with the trials and tribulations of a MASH unit set in ST.

Or a prison camp run by Cardassians and what is occurring there, maybe even working the rescue in with the other PC.

    Just some thoughts...

You could always rip off the theme from the TV series JAG. The PC is a JAG investigator traveling to various planets, bases and starships to look into events and determine whether charges need to be laid.

In the process, though not every episode, uncovering something deeper and having to resolve that as well.

Yeah, I thought about that; STAR TREK: M.A.S.H. would be kinda cool... my two favorite TV shows rolled into one! I'll give that one some thought... but keep the ideas coming!

    Star Trek: Starship Down

The ship's assignment is to get into those "hot" areas and rescue the crew or ship if possible.

    1) Pc is in charge of ship, and has to make those "command" decisions.

    2) In charge of Engineering teams as they go over and decide if the ship is salvageable or not.

    3) Pc is in charge of the medical teams as they triage the crew's of those ship's they are trying to rescue.

    Just some more thoughts...

Why not set it in the post-TOS movies, pre-TNG era? We actually know a fair amount about the time period as far as ships and technology go. Give them an Ambassador class vessel and send them out to explore strange new world etc etc etc.

Another idea would be to have the players roll up Klingons, give them a B'rel class warbird and send them off to defend the glory of the Empire. Have them fight the Romulans, raid Federation space and maybe even go on a rescue mission or two. (Rescue mission being a relative term when you're talking about Klingons of course). Don't forget to throw them into one last battle against impossible odds so they can go out in a blaze of glory.

How about a campaign that's basically a prolonged dungeon crawl? Have their ship crashland on an abandoned alien world covered in continent-spanning cities. They have to avoid the aliens automated defenses and figure out how to operate advanced technologies if they want to figure out a way home. This is complicated if they aren't alone on this desolate world...

That's all I have for now.
