    A little help?

Well my situation is this. I'm running a solo campaign for one of my friends, he and I are both into lots of character detail and that sort of thing so solos work well since the rest of our usual player group doesn't get into it much. The campaign is set on a small ship of 73 crew (on a variant of the Nova I designed) sent into the Kellinan reach as part of an exploration/showing the colonies there we really didn't forget you mission. The flavour of the game is very TOS but set in post war with a bit of DS9 realisim thrown in (politics, continous story line etc)
Anyhow, my player wants to play an engineer, which is cool by me, but I was hoping to draw you guy's creative minds to get some ideas on a few adventures or spins on adventures that I could throw his way.

Have the Nova find an abandoned, ancient, alien research station with some really odd tech. The PC leads an away team down, consisting of various science, ops and engineering personnel.

These aliens were experimenting with phase shifting and eventually abandoned the research as a means to cloak due to several tragedies but before this station could be dismantled something happened to them...maybe it was this very research...

While exploring and the PC is inside a certain chamber or near a certain item, someone else accidently activates something without realizing it and the station and themselves go partially out of phase.

The away team loses contact with the vessel and should be given the herring that something happened to the ship...but in reality the station now exists as a nexus point...a wall if you will.

What is on one side cannot communicate with the other...

As the Away team frantically tries to reestablish contact one by one they disappear, they phase across to the side with their starship and reestablish contact but cannot in turn inform the rest of the team...this continues until only the PC is left as he received the highest exposure and he must find out the cause, shut it down and reverse engineer a means by which he could cross the nexus of the phase wall...

    Just a thought.

    Regards,
    CKV.

    Beware of Greeks…

The ship comes across a ship stranded in space. It is an old, beat-up, cargo vessel and requires repair. They claim that their cargo is non-urgent and that a repair vessel is on its way from their home planet to fix the situation… However the Starfleet captain almost insists that his engineers who are on the spot now take a look at it…

Once over, your engineer can discover that the cargo is a peace offering between two warring colonies. An oddity considering the lack of expedience on the Freighter captains part…

A little more research could ‘accidentally’ discover that the cargo is actually poisoned/booby trapped and is designed to strike back at their enemy, hitting a valuable target. The freighter crew who are sacrificing their lives for this mission know this, and if discovered will become hostile and take hostages…

Now your engineer has to save his crew mates and try and talk down the crew, maybe helping sort a peaceful solution before the cargo of death arrives at the colony… Hopefully sowing the seeds of Peace between the two worlds…

In the Starfleet Corps of engineers short stories there was a really great idea about revisitng the old Constitution class Defiant from the Tholian web episode If your ship was the one contacted by the Tholians when they spot the ghostly Defiant, salvaging the Defiant would be an excellent mission for your engineer.

The first portion of the story ended on a clifhanger, with the engineering crew stranded on the old defiant as it phased back to the other universe.

I haven't read the second part of Interphase (the story) but you don't really need that information from me. Look over the Tholian Web, maybe read over the SCE short stories and see what germinates in the old brain.

    good luck!

Thanx guys! Those are some awsome ideas. Will definately have to put them into play and check out the SCE books too. Everyone else, if you've got an idea, keep em coming.
