    Automatic Character Generator

    hi,

I made a generator for characters. it's still in development, but I hope it could help.
The base file is in MS Word 2000 format and use macro
so, You must allow Macros in Word.
At the file's opening in word, a dialog box appears.
The "Character Generation" button opens a new dialog
Where you can choose the character's species and profession.
Next, you can enter or random the attributes.
The "OK" button copies the character's information on the sheet in the Word's file.
The "Cancel" button closes the dialog without copy.
The "quit" button closes the first dialog.

For the moment, only race's bonus, edges, abilities and skills are treated. Of course, all the math are made.
Next versions will take account of packages (personal and prof.)

I used my charsheet as base for the word's file, but, if you don't like it, you could just copy the informations on your own sheet.

    Please comment at will.

    Thumbs up

It does look rather nice, Roy. Kudos.

One thing though, I tried a Bajoran Mystic, and I got 3 courage points. Shouldn't it be 4 with the Pagh ability?

    Thumbs up Good sheet

A very nice endevour. I'd like to see when you do get the "other stuff" going on that sheet. Perhaps Excel might work better for you...just a sugesstion.

Calcoran was right, there was a bug on the courage calculation. It's corrected now.

    To Darth Sarcastic
You probabely right. But I will try to finish with word. However, the final chargen could be in Excel...

    Unhappy

The sheet looks great! However, when I open it up I don't get a dialog box (just the Control Toolbar). Filling in values manually does not yield any results. I checked for Macro's I might be able to run, but no such luck.

I am running Word 2000 on an XP Pro machine. Any ideas?

U have to turn the macros on first.

Try a good Blue movie, or failing that try Tools/Security and set it to low. Then restart the app and it should work, as I using the XP Pro with Office 2K

    to Casey and Durog.

It's strange. My only idea: check the security item in the macro menu. You cannot use macro if it's at high value. Try medium (it ask before run) or low (macros are automaticaly executed).
If it don't work, open VB editor and try to open Project (autocharsheet) directory in the Project explorator window. If a password is required, the macros are here, and I really have no other idea.
Perhaps some macros capabilities are not installed...

The sheet itself don't made math. So it's normal that nothing happens

Changed the security to Medium and it works now. For some reason, on all previous installsof Office I have made (which is quite a few), the default had been set to medium, so I was always asked whether I wanted to run Macro's or not. Needless to say, i never bothered doing anything with the Security menu...

Anyway, it works now! Great Job!
