    When did they stop...

    calling them Vulcanians (vul-kay-nee-yans). The more TOS I watch the more I hear the term and remember how TNG never used it.

    I think Spock referred to himself as "Vulcanian" in only one episode of Season 1.

    They stopped using Vulcanians about early-mid season one, AFAIR. Like many other things, they simply hadn't fastened down all the details, and Vulcanians went the same way lithium did. TNG didn't use it because TOS had already discarded it.

    Unfortauntely I have been seeing episode out of order here in Canada, so it seems to be all over the place for me

    Heck "Mudd's Women" was on today "You're part Vulcanian aren't you?"

    Maybe in Mudd's case, it's a sort of derogatory or slang term, like Texicans -- which is still used from time to time for Texans.
    "War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

    "Mudd's Women" is one of the earlier season 1 episodes if I recall correctly.

    Mudd's Women was very early. Episode 3 I believe (or 4 if you count The Cage as episode 1).

    I'm obviously out of practice, then, since I didn't remember that right away... I guess I have to go out and buy all of the TOS DVDs and watch them a couple dozen times...

    Oh, you poor soul.

    I can't justify switching to DVD right now, so I just wish some local non-cable station would add TOS to their late-night lineup. I haven't seen it in much too long.

    TAS = The Animated Series

    Not particularly bothered about TAS myself. I use some stuff from it, and I do have it on tape, but apart from some very good ideas, it was not well executed. Roddenberry later disavowed it for good reason, IMHO.

    Now if they'd remake it, improving the animation, re-working the stories to make them more grown up and less Saturday morning kidstuff and less cheesy, cast some additonal voice actors to do the guest roles (Jimmy Doohan did a great job of altering his voice, and is mostly unreceognisable) but Majel Barret was awful (all the women other than Uhura sound like Nurse Chapel), then I'd be happy.

    But I don't see that ever happening.

    Now full season sets of TOS, that I'd buy.
