    Post CodaTrek new character sheet

    Hi all,

Here is my take at a Coda Trek character sheet... Since I didn't find what I liked in other's character sheets for Coda... I made my own.

    You can DL it at

    http://www.lionelkw.com/kw_codatrek_charsheet.pdf

I hope it prints fine (it's my first attempt at making a PDF file and I have an old version of the PDF writer).

I also want to thank Cpt. Daniel Hunter for sharing his own sheet with us, as it greatly inspired me for making mine...

    All feedback is very welcome!!!

    Colors

I am not a big fan of colors on a character sheet. Maybe instead of using colors outline the blanks...Just a thought.

You are right; I know some people prefer B&W sheets. And so do I, for my NPCs.

I made some tests and it seems the sheet prints nicely in B&W (the fields make shades of gray). I will make some tests; if it doesn't work out, I will definitely outline the fields.

    Thanks for the input

    Not too bad at all.

I prefer cooler colors myself (blues, purple and greens), but yours looks good.

A B&W one would be nice to see.

Also check your alingments on some of the cells they look a bit off to me... but it could be my lazy eyes

    You are right...

    Hi!

    Thanks for the nice comments

Maybe I will do a B&W sheet after all... Shouldn't be too long.

You are right, some of the alignments are slightly off (especially on the LCARS patterns), it's a Publisher bug... I still have to figure out how to correct it. But when you print the sheet, it's really hard to notice (since the displacement is about .1mm).

    Still, I must correct that.

    Thx for the input!

The sheet looks great, KW. Even in black & white.

Not a bad sheet, all in all, but I do have a few quibbles with the Skills page. First, Medicine is spelled incorrectly. Second, under the Knowledge group you omitted the History skill. I would lose the Trivia and Universe in favor of History and a blank Knowledge box. Also, characters will likely have no more than two of the three Enterprise skills, so perhaps two empty boxes would be best.

    Just a few thoughts...

    Cool Corrections done!

Thanks very much for your comments, Doug & RaconteurX!

I made the corrections about Medicine and Knowledge; however I kept the 3 Enterprise skills because I think a skilled Ferengi merchant may have all them... For Knowledge I kept only Culture and Universe, leaving three empty boxes to fill as you see fit.

    Hope you still like it

You can DL using the above link.

    Cheers

So you registered on the boards my friend, cool

Of course, I'm bringing the sheets on tonight, with some play aids if I have the time to make them.

now you can do a full character sheet creator
an interactive program that takes player's attributes, skills levels, ......
and then that automatically writes the sheet.

    what do you think ???

like the D&D character creator but with the possibility for the player to plan his character career and more and more ...

Yes, sorta like PCGen for Coda. I thought about it, and that could be nice indeed... Even for generating starships etc...

...We'll need to have more material from Decipher, but in the long run, as careers and professions pile up, that may well be worth the effort.

    I'll think about it... Hmmmmmm...

I have discovered this kind of program with the character creator of TSR for D&D third edition and I think it's really interesting for beginners because you can really make a fast character to see what he will look like in the future, you can test different character archetyps and choose your best....

a good think but perhaps decipher's team has already thought to make that, like TSR ???

PCGen is better than TSR's character generator... It's free, and more complete.

I would be suprised that Decipher plans to release such a tool; Coda is much easier to get along with than D20 IMO, and that would need an investment that is not sure to be repaid.

A free software is more likely to see the light of day, I think.

It looks pretty good, and thanks again for your kind words on my own efforts (currently being tweaked) That idea bout grouping the different categories of skills was a damn good one. I even managed to find the extra space to do it.
