Ok, here's my first attempt at the character generation. I do have to say that I agree with a lot of people...I didn't find it too difficult, but the character gen rules are very counter intuitive. Anyway, let me know if I have made any glaring errors. He is an NPC in an upcoming game.

Err ... didn't you forget to tell us about his Attributes?

As Chief of Security, i.e. department head, Thorin should have the Command (1) edge. Unless of course its a very small security department of just two or three people.

And getting a look at the attributes would be really usefull. Especially as I am not sure about the 11 Defense. That seems rather high.


Then there are a two more things that are more a topic of character design philosophy than anything else:

For a character with 19 advancements the number of professional abilities seems a little low, with only one added after character, but maybe that's just me.

I think adding a few more specialties could go a long way to better show that Thorin is a Security/Weapons Officer. For example Weapons as a specialty for the repair skill and/or Hacking or Encryption for Computer Use. Same for Investigate.
OTOH, to quote one of Doug's favored lines again, "that's just me".

Thanks for the suggestion of Command 1, forgot about that. As to the Professional abilites, I'll look into it, but I just didn't like most of them. I used what I though was necessary and that was it. More specialities is something to consider. The benefit of an NPC, you can fudge a few things here-and-there.

Sorry, this may be me being stupid but...

I thought you couldn't go above 12 in an attribute unless from racial modifiers (Unless the Andorian Agility mod in +3, which I can't confirm not having the NG here with me).
