    Cool

Thanks SIG, and I guess it was Alderon in his secret ID, for sending me the file. I am working out my crew now.

The hardest part is coming up with the names

    This Spreadsheet rocks!

    A Bit Later

Okay I have finished naming all of the crew (minus the names aleady chosen by Players and important NPCs, so about 130 named today)

    Check it out
    http://www.geocities.com/aslan_collas/st_crew.html

Some of the races are from FASA, Prime Directive or of my own invention, but most should be framilier to you.

Actually if you go to the Tango Fleet website Steve Marriott will give you a set of pips for free. He just likes people to ask first and link him if they have a webpage.

    Go to...

The link to his page is at the bottom

    Okay guys.
Can I ask you to hold off on passing the Excel sheet about for a bit?

I've emailed Steve Marriott and profusely apologised, and asked Don to hold off on posting the submitted sheet to the Computer Core until I hear back from Steve.

I shouldn't have included the insignia in the first place, not being able to contact their creator, but being my typical impatient self, went ahead and did it anyway.
    My bad.

So with luck, Steve won't be too pissed at me and will okay the use of them - but let's (do what I didn't do initially) respect his ownership of the images.

    Sorry - mea culpa.

I now have: Disadvantage - Reprimand (Copyright Violation), -1.

    Thanks,

    Have officially sent the word!

Top secret files will self destruct in 5 secs well er.. as soon as Steve sends the file.

Honestly I was only after all the 150 odd crew and positions.

*Over Sig's shoulder a voice says, 'sure; you keep telling yourself that'*

Really I didn't see the page (wasn't linked) that said no copying!

    Shame!

Sheet? Passed on? I have no knowledged of these things of which you speak...perhaps I need the Fal Tor Pan to restore my memory

In all seriousness I will not pass on the sheet to anyone either, until Steve approves the use of the images.

Still it is a great sheet nonetheless.

My bad I guess for sending you straight through to the crew page...I apologize for any confusion I may have caused

That said, Steve usually takes a bit to get back to you, but never says no. He is very happy to share his work.

    What a cool guy!

No problems. Like I said, I disavow all knowledge!

Im sure that all will be well with the universe.

Still it makes you wonder about copyright issues on the 'net.

    Talking

Just an update on the crew roster thing.

I've gotten the okay from Steve Marriott to use his rank insignia in the crew roster spreadsheet, ( YAY! Steve!!!) so I'm doing a couple of things to it and re-submitting it to the Computer Core (probably this weekend).

Plus I'm starting work on converting the entire thing to a stand-alone VB application that'll do everything the spreadsheet does, but will also include specialties within departments and the ability to throw in bios and stats on crew-members as well.

Still toying with that - it might end up including an Access database as well...have to work on it.

Anyway, it'll take a bit of time, but it should be spiffy when it's finished!

Since I'm back at Uni now (as well as working part-time), I won't have a heap of time to work on it, but I'll do a little at a time.

Just wondering if some people would be interested in "giving it a thrashing" when I come up with the prototype and let me know about bugs, etc. Send me a mail, and I'll send you each a copy when I get the first working prototype going (might not be for a month or two yet).

(Have to go brush up on my VB now!)

Have you seen his new "Dress Uniform" pips yet?

    Very snazzy!

I think I asked this before, aldaron, but anyway... Can you tell me how you inserted the pips in the roster page so neatly?
