Yeah, criminals want guns. But we can make it as difficult as possible for them to get at them.

Considering that your own Home Office estimates that 3 million illegal handguns have entered the country since the total ban, I'd have to say that you're not making it very hard.

Well, the IRA gets (or used to get, prior to 9/11) plenty of money from groups in the US (and funnily enough, that's where they went to buy most of their weapons...).

CPT Hunter is right there. In fact, many of our elected officials (Pet Moynihan was one particular offended, Ted Kennedy is another) that send huge amounts of funds through NORAM to the IRA. Though that outlet was allegedly shut down, it simply changed names. (Kinda like the soft money now banned by the Incumbent Protection Act...I mean the Campaign Finance Reform...just changes name and path of desemination.)

Most of their weapons are actually purchased in Colombia and Northern Africa since the mid-1980s, however. They are also conducting weapons research on homemade rocket launchers, new bonb types, etc. with FARC right now; several news outlets have bothered to finally report it.

I remember a case in my hometown in PA while I was growing up where the IRA was building rocket launchers in the woods. (They got caught...)
