I have a question.
How can a vessel gain any new traits during play. For example, after how many battles would a vessel be eligable for the battle tested edge.
To save Don the time, here is his probable answer "Its in the Starship book"

But, with further speculative/educated guesswork; I’d say it probably going to involve a point system, probably tied somehow to the ship’s ‘Renown’ (as per LUG’s NG…Price of Freedom or Player Guide…I can’t remember which).
Long and Short: A player gets experience…why not a ship.
...and that's about the time it hit the fan...
Truisms I know:
1) Marvel is NOT better than DC (nor should EVERYTHING be ‘ULTIMITED’),
2) D20 is NOT the best gaming system out there (nor should EVERYTHING be ‘crammed’ into it),
3) And No matter how ‘THEY’ dress it up, Regardless of how ‘THEY’ title it, and even if ‘THEY’ say “BASED ON…”; “ENTERPRISE” IS NOT STAR TREK!!!
4) 'Reality' T.V. ain't 'Real'
after one battle I would consider a ship battle tested. Until it actually went into battle, then I would only be able to gain traits thru working on a ship. the repair crews could request form the DM to work on adding a trait, and spend time revamping the systems to add the trait. you the DM would have to decide how hard it would be to make that trait become a part of the ship.
May your worlds be at peace. Never assume, that the pointy eared first officer is Vulcan.
As it stands, the ship gets new Traits at Narrator's discretion.
Starship Experience is a subject that will be more fully explained in the Starships book, though. Maybe Don could give some hints about how it works...
